Wicked sequel theoryMao basically there is this theory for a wicked musical sequel and the biggest reason why it came about was because of the music stands. Why would two professionally trained actors and singers need sheet music while performing 8 times a week in the show. That must mean there is new music and that must mean a new show. Just saying.

I feel like I'm missing something here...what exactly are you referring to? What music stands? What new music? What is this post about? I'm so confused.

Yes, you're absolutely right. Son of a Witch: An Even NEWER Musical is going to open on Broadway next year. I'm very, very excited.

Did you add that picture of the book? Because "Out of Oz" could literally be referring to anything. (Plus, that book is the fourth one, not the second. It would make zero sense to make a sequel based off of it.)

Maybe this has something to do with the 5,000th performance?

Yeah, that's what I was thinking.

Just entertaining the idea of a sequel... I don't see how it could be based on the books. I've only read Wicked and Son of A Witch but while the musical is a departure from the original book, Son of a Witch is off doing its own thing entirely.

There's no way it could work. The whole idea of Son of a Witch is that we're seeing what becomes of Elphaba's son, a character we have become well-acquainted with in the original novel, after Elphaba's untimely death; we as the readers already have a connection to the character, and evidently we're reading because we care about what happens to him. Since Liir wasn't present in the musical, a sequel to that wouldn't have nearly the same impact since there would be no connection there; Liir would literally just be a random kid brought in out of nowhere a la Gustave in Love Never Dies, therefore a story focusing on him would make the audience go, "Wait, why should I care?"

That's why it would make even less sense for Out of Oz to be turned into a musical, since that book centers around Rain, Liir's daughter. How could they even begin to make that work?

Or two people from Wicked are recording a one-off song in a studio.

That must mean there is new music and that must mean a new show.

There is no "must" about any of that.  Especially if you have no idea why the music stands are there or what is on them.  Someone is very desperate for social media attention.

Btw as per both the Wicked official Twitter and Aaron Tveit's Twitter, this whole Out of Oz thing is just a series of studio recordings of songs from Wicked. He teased it saying "songs from the show in ways you've never heard them before."
