Let's move on, let's unite; we have a brilliant candidate, a historic sitting President's, his VP's. and a beloved progressive's passionate endorsements -- oh, and a true monster to take down and out.  Stakes, priorities, perspective.

Auggie that was the best post in here.  Yes after Tuesday we will come together and the only thing we'll have to worry about is if Trump somehow isn't the nominee.

love the suggestion that, after 2016, Bernie should do everything he can to help elect progressive candidates in the mid-terms.  What a great legacy that would be for him - to not only have changed the national conversation and pushed the presidential nominee further to the left in 2016, but to also help change the dynamic of Congress and State legislatures.  In fact, I'd hope that he and Warren would both do that.

The mid-term push shouldn't necessarily be limited to progressive candidates.  As much as we'd like, you just can't get a progressive elected in every district.  I don't want the Dems to go to the same kind of litmus test that the far right has.

That's true, Brian.  But I use "progressive" as a relative term there, not as some kind of absolute.  A progressive by Northern California standards is very different from a progressive by, say, West Virginia standards.

Bernie spoke to George Stephanopoulos late last week.  Although this isn't an endorsement for Hillary, it does feel like the inevitable first step.  He's clearly laying the groundwork for his endorsement and clearly talking about Hillary as the nominee.  He's also been surprisingly forthcoming on what he hopes is the ideal outcome of his scheduled meeting with Hillary for Tuesday evening.  I mean, basically, he wants everything from his campaign's platform, but, hey, you don't go into a negotiation with a low bar, you go in asking for more than you could ever expect to get.  Either way, it sounds like it will be a productive meeting.  I wouldn't be surprised if we have Bernie's endorsement by the end of the week or early next week.

A friend notes:

Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) started the marathon filibuster, and he was joined on the floor by numerous other Democratic Senators thus far.

Notably, staunch conservatives Ben Sasse, R-NE, and Pat Toomey, R-PA also joined the filibuster.

Who HASN'T joined the filibuster against gun violence: Bernie Sanders, avowed progressive....and GUN-VIOLENCE DENIER.

Please show your support via the Facebook pages and Twitter accounts of those Senators joining the filibuster to demand legislation on gun violence, including a ban on allowing terrorists and others under FBI watch and No Fly watch lists from buying weapons.

Why are you doing this, first it's a lie, second this type of lying makes you look bad, third, this is now the "we're in it to win it and we're in it together" thread.  Things are looking good this AM, why ruin it?

I  think it is childish and stupid to antagonize Sanders and his supporters.

The only thing that does is make President Oompa Loompa

It is very clear that PalJoey is running the "berniebaby" sock puppet account. Moderators, will you be investigating this?

Why wasn't he in the Senate, at the filibuster in "support"? Oh yeah, he is in the Gun Lobby's pocket.

You know, I don't totally agree with Sander's stance on guns over the years but to say something like that is completely ridiculous and misinformed. He called for a ban on assault rifles in his address last night. He's been for an assault weapons ban since the 80's. He consistently gets a D or F rating from the NRA.

Then why wasn't he there where he was needed to do the job he was elected to do?

This is a perfectly valid question that I would love an answer to. Where was Bernie during the filibuster?

Did Streisand actually call sexism or was that someone else? Imagine me saying this in Hillary Clinton's voice in response to that confrontation about her environmental policies but I'm so sick of people claiming sexism where none exists. Bernie Sanders got almost 45% of the total vote. That is why he has some power still. And she isn't being "told" - it's a negotiation.

It's really amazing, time and time again how stupid humanity can be. People distort facts, don't reason clearly and get fired up for nothing at all. I agree when Obama said that Bernie has made Hillary a stronger candidate - and I absolutely appreciate that she has been 'tested' because it means she probably earned the nomination.

Let's stop ****ing complaining about Bernie Sanders. Be thankful for the contribution he has made.
