Stopping abortion will never be an issue because there will be a close by state where it can be done, even if your state dosen't allow it.  It is another of the old school conservative issues that can never be brought to complete fruition.  Perhaps another issue that separates them from the general public.  Now if we can only get the general public to vote. I believe overturning that decision would spur too much division and it is something the GOP power brokers don't want to make an issue.

Which only means that women who have the means to travel out of state and incur that expense (not to mention missed time at work), so for poor women - who already can't use of an kind of government-related assistance, include Obamacare, to pay for an abortion - the piecemeal dismantling of abortion laws are absolutely tantamount to the repeal of Roe vs Wade. Roe vs Wade was decided at the Supreme Court level more than 40 years ago, and restrictions to abortion are an all-time high.

Perhaps another issue that separates them from the general public.

And yet the general public keeps voting them in. And well-meaning idealists help vote them in by voting for spoiler candidates.

I'd just be content to have Congress stop putting up impediments to voting in the same way they put up impediments to abortion. The repeal of the Voting Rights act overwhelmingly affects poor and minority voters.

Do you really think that stopping the access to abortion is an issue in this country now?  I think we have bigger issues that the GOP is concerned about like raising taxes on the wealthy.  These are ancillary issues, they mean to do a lot of things, abortion is not high on the agenda.  Huckabee, Santorum, and most of the rest of them will run on this platform and they will lose.

If you don't see a large push to eliminate women's rights to self-determination, if you can't see that all of this "states rights" BS is to set up test cases to get EVERYTHING the hard right cares about before a sympathetic Supreme Court, then I guess I'll agree with you.

You know that some people can think about two or three or even more things at once right? And for someone who is so fixated on income inequality you seem to be pretty myopic to not see how income inequality informs a whole host of other issues, like abortion and voter disenfranchisement.

That's one of the areas where I disagree with Sanders. Even though the NRA has given him a D or F rating.

I'm hoping the media will ask him about it because I'm curious to see if his position would change as President instead of Senator from Vermont.

He was asked about on Morning Joe this morning. But they only stayed on that topic for like 30 seconds and all he got to say was he was in favor of stronger gun control laws and his campaign would be discussing it in more detail soon.
