The reason I thought it was him was he responding to a tweet asking if he would be playing Hamilton anywhere else.

I'm certainly not saying he won't play it was there, just that I'm Not sure if that text is all thr telling.

According the the site and playbillvault, Thayne Jasperson

Given how much he does, I admit I'm rather surprised to learn he's actually human.

What a bummer for him, but I hope to hear how Thayne Jasperson (assuming the website is correct) does. Exciting he'll get to play the role the first time!!!

My ex-hub is pursuing a new career.  He's at Georgetown Law School.  He texted this to me yesterday and I thought it was funny.  He did not like Hamilton one bit.  He's also not one to back away from a debate, but I guess he didn't want to go head-to-head with his professor.  Neat that Hamilton is being used in law school though.

"Today in Con law (whatever that is) we were taking about Hamilton's writings in the Federalist papers and also about his support of a national bank.  Our professor just played 2 songs from Hamilton walking around the classroom holding a speaker.  He called the show "the greatest work of creative genius of our lifetimes". I told people that I got to see it and they were appropriately jealous.  I didn't come clean on not liking it and leaving though."

Does anyone have any idea why there is no Weds Matinee listed on 11th May? This is the week I'm in New York and naturally, was going to try for the Weds matinee but it doesn't seem to exist.

Any insight helpful.

Cheers!

I could be wrong here so don't take my word for, but aren't they planning to let high schools go see the show on weds matinees? I don't know if they are starting with that in May, but it could be a possibility.

I see via Twitter that Daveed Diggs is on vacation and Seth Stewart (Graffiti Pete in In the Heights) went on as Lafayette/Jefferson for the first time last night. Did anyone happen to see him? I'm very curious to hear about another take on the characters. I was fortunate enough to see Daveed in August and it's hard now to picture someone else in the role!

Finally got to see the show last night. I put off listening to the recording for a few weeks, because I didn't want to get sick of the music, but even if I hadn't I think I would have been as equally blown away as I was last night. The recording is great, of course, but this show really does have to be seen. The staging and choreography are drop-dead brilliant. Of course, there are overtly stunning moments- the rewind of Satisfied, and the battle during Yorktown, which garnered a large round of applause mid-song-  but the whole show is just stuffed with these smart little moments. It's not showy or overbearing, but it was so clear that there was an immense amount of care and thought put into every gesture and stage picture. As good as the score is, the staging elevates it to this sensational place.

In addition, every performance was excellent- most of this cast has been with the show for over a year now, but I couldn't see any sign of wear or fatigue in the performance. It really is so difficult not to single out every single lead- everyone has at least one or two standout moments throughout the show- and that's not even including the stellar ensemble, who work their asses off and are such a big reason why the show works as well as it does. I adored Groff, who makes the absolute most of his 10 minutes. Goldsberry knocks Satisfied out of the damn park. I have never heard an audience roar so much as after The Room Where it Happens, and Odom Jr. is of course magnetic throughout the whole night. I was slightly disappointed to miss Daveed Diggs, but Andrew Chappelle played both roles very well- his rapping wasn't as assured as Daveed's, but he was totally charming and hilarious as Jefferson. I really could go on- I so badly want to see it again, because it's overwhelming in the absolute best way. Still, even though that likely won't be for a while, I'm so glad I got to go at all. The hype for this is more than earned, and I'm glad it'll be on Broadway for many years to come.

I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.

I'm glad the audience is clapping after the battle in Yorktown. I love that part! It's just sensational. And so many other parts, as you point out! I'm looking forward to seeing Hamilton again in May. And maybe July too.

I get chills simply READING other people talk about Renée during "Satisfied." So good (along with everything else you said—thanks for the great review, wonderfulwizard11!).

I was hoping to get some opinions. I'm taking a friend to see Hamilton. Would you go: in June (Sunday matinee - Mezzanine Row D) when most of the original cast is likely to still be performing or October (Saturday evening- Orchestra Row B) when some of the original cast may have already moved on? So it's location vs. cast (knowing that there's always the possibility of vacations, absences etc.) I just want my friend to have the optimal experience and don't want to be responsible for steering her to make a bad decision. On a related note, does anyone know if Lin is scheduled to perform in Sunday matinees later in the year (summer)?  I thought I saw that mentioned on an earlier thread. Thanks so much for the input!!

I'd go for June. Like you said, more original cast safety—and the Rodgers mezzanine isn't bad at all.

Agreed. You should see the original cast if it's an option. The mezzanine is not bad.

Concierge- absolutely! I love that Kail basically allows the staging to happen all around her while she stands center stage and just commands your attention. The end, with her alone on stage, was particularly devastating.
