Just back from opening night of Ivo van Hove's ANTIGONE at BAM, starring Juliette Binoche.
The production is certainly not for everyone, but there is some stunning staging and astonishing performances. Binoche is commanding, devastating and exquisite.
This was my first time seeing a production of van Hove's. I enjoyed it tremendously and was moved deeply, but I can see why some would be put off. It moves at a very slow pace and it's very simple in its staging. But I found it all very effective.
Definitely a must-see for fans of Binoche.

The production is beautiful to look at but moves at a deadly pace. There was a lot of squirming and snoring around me, unfortunately. The lighting was just gorgeous but I found the production to be an almost total bore. I was happy to see Binoche but not even she could stop my eyelids from growing heavy. I was disappointed.
