Audition Help! ("Sweeney Todd")#1
Posted: 9/17/15 at 12:04am

hi!
so my college's (Berklee College of Music) musical theatre club is doing Sweeney Todd and auditions are in a couple weeks. I did the show back in high school and so want to do it again! That being said I was wondering if you all could help me pick audition songs. I'm a soprano but want to show off both my high and low notes, and they said to
a. bring more then 1 piece just in case.
b. it can be any musical theatre, including Sondheim, just not from the show.

ideal role would be Johanna, but I'd be cool with Beggar Woman as well or even just being cast! I can go as low as Eb and to about a B5.

I'm currently floating around with an R&H piece ( maybe Oklahoma or Carousel), but I'd love input and suggestions, maybe even good places to make 16 and 32 measure cuts. Who knows! I do know that an awesome group like this can help me and my indecisive mind! Thank you!

"Summertime" from Porgy and Bess is an amazing soprano piece.

Also look at "How Are Things In Glocca Morra" from Finian's Rainbow.
