No. I imagine they'll have a shared audience. And the Flea Market is also a day-long affair. People will make a day of going to both.

That would be a long-day affair for some. Is Elsiefest going to compete with the BC/EFA Flee Market??? Like me. I'm probably only opting for the flea market.

And it's already been brought up here, OP: https://forum.broadwayworld.com/readmessage.php?thread=1086040&dt=16

I thought the decision was tacky, though they are donating "a portion" of proceeds to BC/EFA....  Who knows how big that portion is?

I'll only be doing the flea market.

But since it was not directly addressed in the title of the thread... I had to ask. Also, for those that may not be aware that both event are the same day, now they are.

I don't think they're competing. I'm doing both. Flea market in morning/early afternoon, Elsie Fest later... The flea market is only open until seven and presumably the biggest headliners will perform later at the festival after the market's closed anyway.

They are competing if you can't be in the city that long thanks to bus/train/plane schedules, money or other scheduling conflicts. I imagine a lot of people had already planned to be in the city for the Flea Market only, or had decided to see a show the night of the Flea Market and aren't going to change their plans now for Elsie Fest.

iluvtheatertrash, I'm with you on all counts.

(Also, I don't support Darren Criss related events.)

I think competition is definitely there.  As LizzieCurry mentioned, many might be looking at time constraints so might be able to just do one event.  Even though I live in NY, I am torn myself, as I may not be able to spend all day in the city, and also, I am afraid that the general admissions for Elsie fest is going to offer a horrible view, but spending $250 is out of my budget.  If the flea market had been another day, I'd definitely buy the general admissions ticket for Elsie fest, but now that it's the same day, I am debating whether I should just stick around at the Flea Market.  So the two events definitely do create a conflict in my opinion.  Tough call...

In the past, I have left the Flea Market early because there are just too many people there (Broadway Barks this year was a mess as well. FAR too many people for such a small space) so I'm hoping that Elsie Fest releases a schedule so I can know if I show up a little late, I will be okay.

I doubt there will be that many people that you will be pushed toward the back if you get a GA seat.

Also, how many people have already bought their BroadwayCon tickets and aren't willing to spend (close to or) the same amount at Elsie?

I bought VIP tickets to Con but I'm willing to spend another $50 to go to Elsie.

Someone had asked them this on their facebook event and they said they had discussed with Broadway Cares and they had both come up with having it on the same day would be the best, so people could make an entire day out of it.

Someone in that same thread made a really good point that if you're carrying a bunch of stuff you bought at the Flea Market, then going to a venue like this won't be practical unless you live nearby or have somewhere to store your stuff between events.

And if they made it a week later, people would complain they had just come in from out of town the previous week for the Flea Market. You're never going to come up with something that pleases everyone...

Exactly. I am sure they are fully aware that a bunch of people will only go to the flea market. They will find out sooner or later if ElsieFest is profitable or not.

At least people are trying. With this festival and Broadway Con it really feels like everyone is working to form a community.

Plus with Jordan and Darren leading the way, at least it is people who care about Broadway and not corporations like Coachella.

Does anyone know how the Elsie fest seating works?  I used my citi card to look at presale tickets, and it seems GA (which I assume is General Admissions) offers a row and seat number anyway.  Will there be different sections for each ticket holder, or is it just first-come-first-serve when it comes to where you stand in the General Admissions area.  Oh, and will I be able to see the performers well at the General Admissions area, or is it really far that they will seem like ants to me?  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

GA tickets always have sections and rows on them, but it doesn't mean anything since the GA map isn't divided. All one big area.

Broadway.com is having a give away of 2 GA tickets for Elsie Fest. It's in combination with a photo with Darren Criss if that is another pull for you.

"we're also giving out two general admission tickets to the show along with a backstage photo op with Darren Criss! For FREE! Enter below before the contest ends tomorrow, Friday, August 21 at 5PM!"

Not sure if this is any indication of how it's selling. But, I found they are selling tickets via Goldstar for $29. I came across it because I was looking for Dames At Sea tickets for flea market day.

Yes, it would be great making a full day of it  IF the Elsie venue was more convenient to the Flea Market - it's over a mile away. So I go to the Flea Market and then take all my new-found treasures to the river, probably by cab because there's no direct public transportation and I have lots of stuff .....

For those doing this, will there be facilities for checking packages at Elsie, or does everyone have to sit clutching their goodies?

Normally, I'd be jumping with joy at the idea of Elsie, but sorry -  Flea Market for me.
