I saw "Hamilton" Saturday afternoon. By the end of act one, I was just blown away. I truly felt that this is just a game changer, and the performances were spectacular.
Miranda played Hamilton, not the alternate Javier Munoz, but I imagine he would be great, too. Standout performances for me were Daveed Diggs as Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson, and Jonathon Groff as King George. How I wish there was more King George!
Choreography was amazing and integrated throughout the show.
My one concern is that this is LONG. It ran 2 hours and 50 minutes, and I thought the second act lost some of the energy of the first act. My companion also agreed, and we thought act 2 could have some numbers cuts. Also, I felt strangely let down by the ending. (yes, I know he dies), I guess I wanted a reprise of the opening "Hamilton" number.
Interested in what all of you think, especially regarding act 2.
thread=1084696&dt=393 There's a search feature. You can use it to find the thread about the Public as well. The length is not a concern for the team. Les Mis is long. Lin has said adamantly he doesn't want to cut it. Also, the version of the show you saw is frozen. So that's it.
I opened this thread hoping they had finally released some B-roll footage or new stills. The show is opening in three days; that stuff should be coming soon (assuming they plan to release any), especially since the show is now frozen (per the official Hamilton Instagram).
