Not really. Mamma Mia! is nowhere near as iconic as Cats and it is still running on Broadway. This seems to come off as a message along the lines of... "Hey, the Cats are still here, and we'll be back" to me.
Well if Mr.Webber is thinking of bringing a Cats revival to Broadway, I hope it won't be the same one that was running in London. The show was absolutely dreadful and was devoid of any spark. Perhaps you Americans would enjoy it more than we did though.
Considering that Americans seem to love CATS (we do also, but not in the same way). I'm sure you will enjoy this production. It was like watching a reenactment of the original..which was exciting in the 80s, but now...not so much.
There was a wonderful production out of Yorkshire that was very fresh and they did it in a way I had never seen before. I wish Mr.Webber would have seen that production to get some well needed inspiration. Alas, it seems that we were only treated to Cats for the novelty of it and not because someone wanted to bring something new to it.
I am VERY excited for School of Rock!! I wonder if School of Rock is a big hit, Andrew will keep the show running, and delay the Cats revival which is planning to come back to the Winter Garden Fall 2016.
I absoutely adore Sierra. I was fortunate enough to see her in Phantom and Les Miserable. She was excellent in both. That being said, I don't know why she is wasting her time with a role like this.
Perhaps she craves a Tony Award Nomination and is desperate to be in something new. Can't say I blame her, she is an underrated actress in the States. Not so much here.
It's obvious Andrew has a fancy for her and will put her in anything no matter how thankless the role is.

In what way do you love it differently? And why do you believe we would enjoy a dreadful production more than the UK? The West End production ran 3 years longer than Broadway and the West End produced its first revival while Broadway has not. It is true that Americans seem to be fond of the show, I don't know why it would be apparent that we are somehow more partial to it than the Brits.
Regardless, I think any revival that does not incorporate the environmental staging is pointless. I had seen it on tour in a proscenium theatre and thought it merely okay, but when I saw the original staging in London, I immediately understood its mass appeal. It was a magical experience. Throwing a basic touring production on Broadway (like the blander new Les Miz production) would be a mistake.

I love Andrew Lloyd Webber. He is extremely talented, and knows how to write a good song. If you think of it, I wonder if his work has been seen by more people on Broadway than any other writer
