THE FRENCHIE DAVIS EXPERIENCE AT THE METROPOLITAN ROOM

“I genuinely love to sing. When I am singing I feel free, like I'm flying. I can't imagine my life without music.”

Growing up listening to her parent’s extensive record collection and watching musical movies everyday after school, Frenchie Davis naturally knew she was born into a life of music. By seventh grade, Davis began to hone her musicianship and vocal ability by way of the invested interest of her seventh grade teacher, Mrs. Young.

When it came time for college, Davis knew she wanted to study the arts, so the only logical decision was Howard University. Not only because she was born in Washington D.C. and three generations of Davis’ have graduated from Howard but it was also important for Davis to follow in the footsteps of legendary performers such as Donny Hathaway, Debbie Allen, and Phylicia Rashad.

America took notice to Davis and her amazing singing talent in 2002 when she auditioned for the second season of American Idol. She blew all three judges away with her sultry audition rendition of “And I Am Telling You.” Davis made the cut, went straight to Hollywood and sang her way to the semi finals.

In 2011 Davis was asked to audition for The Voice. Davis joined Christina Aguilera’s team of elite eight and again made it all the way to the semi finals. During this competition Davis was told “You may very well have the best voice in this whole competition.”

Throughout her theatre career, Davis has starred in hit Broadway musicals such as RENT, Dreamgirls, Mahalia: A Gospel Musical, Cinderella and Ain’t Misbehavn’, which earned her a Grammy Nomination. Her television credits include voice-over work for the hit Nickelodeon cartoon, Wonder Pets and most recently a role on OWN Network's Wanda Sykes Presents: Herlarious!

Currently Davis tours the country with her musical comedy cabaret act, The French & Kat Show, of which she is the co-creator, co-producer and co-star. The show has received rave reviews and continues to sell-out to audiences who are amazed by Davis’ unique singing voice and raw whit.

In May 2014, Davis graduated from Howard University with a GPA of 3.85; her Bachelors Of Fine Arts degree; and plans to begin graduate school in the fall. It is imperative to Davis to continue her education in her career path.

With a loyal fan base that increases everyday and a passionate love for live, Frenchie is a beacon of positivity wherever she goes.

"I want to live my life and create art that inspires people to be brave and courageous", says Davis,

"To believe in themselves and never take no for an answer."
