This has been going around online, I don't know if anyone saw it. But, I had to share. A man hired a wedding photgrapher to take pictures at his upcoming wedding. However, when he saw that the photographer was very open and excited about gay marrage being legalized nationwide, he felt that that was the kind of guy he didn't want to work with. So, he fired him and not only that, asked for his retainer back too. I am not even going to summerize the well written, well thought out response that the photographer had. Just read it for yourself. Photographer's response to couple canceling their wedding booking
I know that GLAAD is far from the best. I just felt that it was, to me, more the idea of what happened with the money than anything else. I am not in disagreement with any of you about GLADD by the way.
Pardon my ignorance, but can someone explain what GLAAD has done (as well as HRC) that causes people to not want to support them? I honestly do not know and am curious. I have heard it brought up a lot, but I feel that I have only heard about it through posters on this board!
I'm not sure that I agree that the response by Brentwood is a very good defense of gay marriage. I have always felt that gay marriage is just, reasonable, and should be legal everywhere. I have a problem comparing it to liking broccoli.
Prior to the Supreme Court decision, it was law in 30 states. The vast majority of people, including the President, have come to believe, as I do, that it is a matter of fairness and certainly falls within the spirit of "pursuit of happiness". Almost all people against gay marriage do so because of religious belief.
I believe that this sea change of sentiment is mostly a matter of understanding, education, and goodwill. It may feel good to exact a bit of revenge on someone as hurtful and thoughtless as the people in this instance but it is not how we got here.
Islander_Fan, I know you meant well and I promise this isn't about your good intentions, but surely I can't be the only one who is sick of congratulating people for not being bigots? What is this? 2010? So you support marriage equality and told a homophobe why. Big f**king deal. You f**king should support it, period.
Also remember - when awarding the presidency to someone who didn't win the popular vote, the Supreme Court is doing its duty. When they rule gay people can marry, they are five unelected judges. "Five unelected judges" is the new "activist judges."
Good effort? It took no effort to read that post and see the word 'GLAD' and make the connection to the legal services organization. It ain't my fault that the guy spelled it wrong.
