Broadway Musical Opening Night how to get Tix?

I was planning on seeing a few of the winter opening nights, and discovered tix are not being offered, and I assume get doled out to bway insiders, press, friends and family, etc.

Can any of you savvy bway insiders share the best ways for a bway lover yet out of towner to get access to some of these openings????

It's not uncommon for shows to release tickets that are remaining very close to the date of the opening. However, that's not the best situation if you're trying to plan in advance.

Like the musical on Facebook, and follow them on Twitter, or sign up on their e mail list. That's how to find out when opening night tickets go on sale. 

It's usually whatever is left over after the VIPs get tickets, so the tickets may not be the best. And they tend to run slightly higher in price.

A few years ago, I was able to snag opening night tickets to Cyrano, with Kevin Kline and Jennifer Garner.  I kept checking the usual ticket purchase site, don't recall if it was telecharge or ticketmaster, from about a week before the date.  Got lucky a few days before opening, with orchestra seats on the aisle, around seventh row.  Ben Affleck was sitting across the aisle from us, and the theater was packed with celebs.
