Musical theatre auditions. HELP

My high school is host to the integrated arts program and takes the arts, especially the dramatic arts, quite seriously. Given this, the musical theatre class i really want to get into has multiple stages to auditions. I am super ridiculously crazy exited for my audition but i have one problem, i have absolutely no idea what song to use. The first audition is a cappella so im assuming they just want to see if you have any talent whatsoever. They wont have even chosen what show they're doing yet. Im a mediocre singer who comes from a talented family but does not have the same training that the other talents in my family had. So really i need a song that does not require a huge range, is not ridiculously overdone and will help me showcase my vocal abilities. The song i sound best singing and im most confident with is "i dreamed a dream" but everyone knows thats like at the top of the "DO NOT SING AS AN AUDITION SONG UNLESS IT IS YOUR AIM TO HAVE THE JUDGES WANT TO FEED YOU DRAIN CLEANER" list. SO any ideas? im really nervous and exited. And clueless i might add. If it changes anything i have a pretty ****ty range, im sixteen, little but certainly not no experience, im an alto, i usually do better with songs with longer holds, and i dont really know what else to say. thanks!
