I'll be directing a play in my Advanced Theatre class, and I need to find a play that has 2 males and 3-4 females. I would love to do a comedy or a farce, and preferably one act, but full length is fine, too. I was just asked to do this today, and I'll have about six weeks of rehearsal time. Thanks in advance for the suggestions!

Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike seems to fit your requirements/preferences.

"Crimes of the Heart" is funny with a lot of heart in it (no pun intended) and it's 2 guys 4 girls with a major drive from 3 of the girls. But its a 2 hour play

Neil Simon's "The Prisoner of Second Avenue."

If you could stretch for one more male and one more female, Christopher Durang's "The Marriage of Bette and Boo."

Crimes of the Heart runs 2 hours 45 minutes.  It's a three act play.  And while it's an awesome play, it's very difficult to pull off.  Unless you get the Southern quirkiness right, the play falls flat.  Several years ago, I saw a production directed by Kathleen Turner and it was awful because she had the actresses play it straight and you can't do that.  Turner didn't understand the quirkiness.

You have to understand the quirkiness of a line like: "She's wearin' the lime green gloves of a dead woman."

If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.
