Got an e-mail from Something Rotten that balcony seats are on sale for $37 for opening night. How is the balcony at the St. James?
I've never been to an opening night, and I'm so excited! How does it work? Says the show is at 6:30, but is that arrivals or the actual start of the show? Is it very fancy? Saw people outside of An American in Paris all dressed up, but that show seems more fashionable. Not sure how it is typically. Any input is appreciated!
The show is starting at 6:30; they usually start earlier in the evening on an opening night. I think people tend to be dressed up more for opening nights because it is a special event. HAVE FUN!!!
I've been to a couple of Opening nights..I am always surprised to see while some people are really dressed up, there are plenty of people arriving in jeans and sneakers like it's just another day.
It's not like the old days...a lot of the glamour is gone..sad..
IMO the balcony the St. James is super high but as others have said if you are going for an opening night it doesn't matter where you sit as long as you are in that house that night.
I was waay back in the Neil Simon for the opening of The Last Ship. It doesn't matter where you sit, it's still an amazing night. I dressed up a bit, but something that would be acceptable if I was going to an engagement party. But there were plenty of people around me dressed like it was any other day. They aim for a 6:30 curtain but because of the red carpet and celebrities, it doesn't always start right at that time.
