I'm not sure you need a specialized program, Bryan.  Just one that you feel comfortable with that you can share your concerns about your disability.  I have disabled kids all the time (both physical limitations and learning issues) in my classes....it's never created a problem.

I also doubt there are a lot of people from Maine here on the boards.  And to be fair, I'm not sure if what you are looking for exists.  Especially if you are talking about becoming a professional actor.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

I agree with dramamama. You should just go out and audition in a theatre that you feel comfortable with. Be sure to express your concerns about your disability to the director and stage manager, and you should be fine.

While this program is not in Maine, there is one program that caters to actors with disabilities in Minneapolis-St Paul, MN - check out Interact Center for the Visual and  Performing Arts (Website: http://www.interactcenter.com/ disabled acting programs. Perhaps this an organization worth checking out?

Hi Bryan. Our Beginners Acting Lab may be a good start for you. It takes place at our studios in New York though. Please take a look:
