Need help with a novel I'm writing! |
Here in southeast Michigan where I'm from, the drama class was taught by an English teacher and it was graded on more of a participation basis. That same teacher was also the director of the plays our school did, while he and the choir teacher would co-direct the musical productions.
In my school, the tech was done by students, but the costumes, sets and props were done by parent volunteers (usually ones who were also professionals; a friends mother was a seamstress/upholsterer and she did the costumes for our shows), although frequently students would assist them in the shop putting together the sets.

There is no one answer. "Elective" doesn't mean a non graded course. It just means it isn't mandatory. My students all receive grades. Since I teach Drama, I also choose to run the drama program. My students that are seniors can direct, but not for our mainstage shows. My students do MOST of the work, designing and constructing, but I have other adults that also act as mentors.
I took Theatre Arts as a legitimate class in high school where I received grades, though as stated above, it was mainly graded on a participation basis. Basically, if you memorized your lines/blocking and performed, you could easily pass with an A. There was the occasional essay on theatre related topics, but that was only a few times per year.
The Theatre Arts teacher was only the Theatre Arts teacher, the English department was totally separate. She also directed the student productions, and students did tech work (costumes, sets, lighting, stage management, etc) and she also had a student director (usually a senior) work alongside her to direct the productions.
HI! Novel, it's so cool. I have no idea how you write this. I remembered when I was a student we had to write book reviews and it was terrible for me. But I visited website http://essayhelperonline.com/. Maybe u try and will have some new ideas.
