Jay Records seems to have a relationship with Kander, and they DID manage to get THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS out fairly quickly. (It was available by the time of the Broadway opening.) I'm hoping it's PS Classics or Ghostlight. I'd actually love for Tommy Krasker to produce this one.
Yes, but it only took the summer to mix. Unlike other Jay releases that take a few summers and then some...
It would be smart for them to do what you suggest, ljay. I think these producers are fairly smart, and I hope they're smart enough to take up your suggestion.
I agree. The producers, mainly Tom Kirdahy, have been very smart so far, especially by being the last musical of the season to open. Also, having that gorgeous commercial playing on the major NY networks can only help things.
Is The Visit one of the few shows that hasn't announced a cast album yet? Fun Home already has a cast album, Honeymoon in Vegas has been released, On the Town is finally out, On the Twentieth Century is being released in May, Finding Neverland will at least have the concept recording, Gigi and The King and I have been announced, An American in Paris and Something Rotten will almost certainly be recorded even though they haven't announced yet as far as I know. That just leaves It Should Have Been You, The Visit and Doctor Zhivago, yes? Have I missed anything?
I didn't know they had announced Gigi and The King and I! That makes me happy. The Visit desperately needs a recording, if only to complete my Kander & Ebb collection.
"Contentment, it seems, simply happens. It appears accompanied by no bravos and no tears."
I love the score, too, and since seeing the show keep watching the moving and in every way spellbinding clip of "Love and Love Alone" that the production formally issued.

There was a sign at the souvenir stand at Gigi that the cast album would be available 6/15/or 6/16 .
I also hope for one of The Visit. Looking forward to Something Rotten & Dr Z. The latter may be a question mark as the critics may not be kind but time will tell.
