Theatre Dinner

"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)

Yeah but do those theatres have good shows? I usually rush a Broadway show and get pizza or fast food. That's the best dinner and a show for under 50 :)

(Rhetorical question.)

That wasn't as annoying as usual and I was just about to mention doing rush and having a wild evening at Pret.

If you become an escort you can get dinner and a show and make $50

"Yeah but do those theatres have good shows?"

Yes.

Yes they do.

All four theatres she listed are prominent and important NYC theatres that put up exciting, interesting, and groundbreaking work.

Pinto, going to a Broadway show is not a guarantee of quality. In fact, day in and day out, you are much more likely to see a good show off or off-off-Broadway. Broadway is best known for mediocrity and star vehicles. If that's your thing, go for it.

Then I'd venture to say that you aren't seeing the right things Off-Broadway.

I think what Pinto may be asking is if you're going to see a full scale expensive musical with an eighteen plus member orchestra in the pit for the price of an off/off-off Broadway show. Of course not. And these days with the public attending John Doyle type musicals with minimal scenery where the producers are obviously cutting corners for the sake of greater profits (and passing it off as an excuse to present a more "intimate" evening in the theatre), well it's the theatre goer's choice to fall for these tactics. And I seriously think the public is finally getting wise to the newer scaled down three character shows asking top dollar prices. As far as plays go, some of my best nights in the theatre were in off Broadway houses. In fact I've seen the same play in different productions both on and off Broadway and have much preferred the ones not on Broadway.

"Broadway is best known for mediocrity and star vehicles"

The stars that have been on Broadway recently have been fantastic so I don't know why your saying that as if having stars in a Broadway show is a bad thing.

"Then I'd venture to say that you aren't seeing the right things Off-Broadway."
lol that sentence means that theres a lot of crap off broadway. Theres good and bad in both
