Hamilton Cancellation Line |
Harvey M said: "The answer used to be NO. There were rules posted (no line swapping, no tents & chairs allowed). But those rules were torn down & removed. you shouldn't have a problem subbing in line.
I'm a bit confused ...are the rules pretty much not enforced about being able to swap? They were so strict about it before- with photos and lists, etc. Thanks for any info/tips on the theatre's currently policies (if they exist)
I'm not sure if I have as much stamina to wait as long now that the cold weather is setting in...After waiting over 14 hours last time I was really frozen by the time I got into the RRT - and it ended up being standing room.
I waited in line 15 1/2 hours two fridays ago. I was 5th in line, arrived at 430am (Chris Jackson's final wknd). I was surprised that the rules previously posted were gone. I asked one of the Hamilton employees what happened to it...he said it was torn down. No one enforced previously stated rules (such as no chairs). People in the cancellation line frequently left the line to get food, find a restroom, etc. although no one toward the front of the line swapped with anyone else, I don't think it would have mattered if they did...since those previous strict rules were no longer posted.
I've seen some people on here offering a deal, to take people as their plus one in exchange for paying part of their ticket - how early are these things arranged? I will be in town late January and I'd really like to do something like this. I can pay part of/all of your ticket if you take me as your plus one, for the house or SRO tickets. I love this show with all my heart but I have extremely limited time in NYC (And am travelling internationally) so I can't really do the line myself.

If you're talking to me, I'm pretty sure anyone willing to wait in line and trade the plus one ticket for their ticket being paid is a pretty big fan. It's an arrangement people have been doing repeatedly on this board and allows someone who otherwise couldn't pay $200 for a ticket to see the show. And I don't think any of the people who have already done this sort of thing would appreciate being called "payed cronies" for seeing a show they are very clearly huge fans of.

Just sent you a PM! I've line sat for others in the last before and I'd be happy to do the same for you!
A friend and I are doing the cancellation line this Sunday, 12/4 - if anyone is interested in us getting 1 or 2 tickets for you, in exchange for helping us pay for our own tickets, message me! :)
Hello! Does anyone have an update on the line over the last week? I'm going to be in town during the week this week and will have just one day to wait. Hoping I get into an evening show if I arrive by 10:00am on Wednesday or Thursday. Does that sound reasonable? I'm not able to get there earlier.
One thing I do want to clarify: Do available tickets usually range between $40(SRO) and $200ish? I know there are sometimes premium tickets for a higher price, but are most of the tickets at the standard ticket price? My budget is right around $200, so I won't be able to pay for the premium seating.
One more question: do people in line usually let each other take one or two short (15-30 minute) breaks to find a bathroom or to walk around to warm up? I thought I read that once.
I'm getting excited!
@abbymaggie
I did the line (with no success) way back in March and folks on line held my spot while I took a quick bathroom break, ran warm water over my hands or warmed up at the Marriott Marquis lobby (next door).
In May/June, with Lin's departure madness, rules by the theater were enforced that no line holding/swapping/use of chairs was allowed but this all seems to have gone away (as per a recent post here). I personally saw the use of chairs last month so I figured they were more relaxed on the line rules now.
I don't know if it was for the holiday week or general high season with tourism in town, but regular seats were priced at $238 & Premium $998. I don't know if SRO went up during that time.
If this was a holiday weekend price and things went back to where they were, then tickets should be $199/$549/$40.
As for what time to arrive, I wish I had information on that with the current cast. Perhaps people aren't lining up as early or as much as before. Hopefully someone can answer if 10am is early enough for you.
Good Luck and Enjoy!
Greetings all! I will be doing the cancellation line for the third time on Wednesday, December 28th for the matinee with my wife and daughter. We only need 5 tickets. If you would like the 6th ticket and pay for mine please PM me....Best regards,
I'll be at the line this Saturday so if anyone is interested in the extra ticket I'll have PM me and we can work something out :)
Ok I have a question. I will be in NYC in January and I was thinking about doing this. My question is how common are standing room tickets given out ?
I'm willing to stand in the cancellation line for ANY show between Dec 18-31 (excluding Fri 8pm or Sat 2pm show) if someone wants to pay for my ticket. And depending on what day, we may be able to arrange 2. Message me if you're interested. Pretty sweet deal considering you get to pick the show.
A lot of you who have seen the show numerous times are keeping new people from seeing it by this buy my ticket tactic. Hope I don't get burned because some rich person is coming to town and you need to see it the 15th time.

Some of us can't afford to see the show otherwise
I'll be at the line tomorrow, if anyone is interested in me getting them a ticket PM me and we can work something out :)
I'm going on line the 23rd if anyone wants to be my plus one in exchange for part of my ticket being paid let me know.
So, what's the deal with the increased holiday week prices? I'll be in town from the 1st to the 20th of January and I'm a bit worried that with New Year's Day and MLK Day all the weeks will have increased prices.
Also, how early do people usually get in line for a 7/8pm show on a weekday?
I'm going to NY for my 25th anniversary and the only way I can score tickets to this show is by waiting in line, can you see how it might bum me out that people who have seen the show many times are in line to see it again, and again, and.... just so rich people don't have to be bothered with the line. Can you see how that might bum a regular schlepper like me?
I plan to come to New York for 2 days with my daughter late this month. We are going to try and get tickets. Any recommendations for cancellation line?
I am headed to the City at the end of December/beginning of January and am hoping to get tickets. Seeing as it's a holiday and I'm sure the number of people around is outrageous - what time do you think I would be safe getting in line? I know I can't guarantee tickets but want to give myself the best chance possible. I'm hoping to go on the 28th as I figure I'll have a better chance on a two show day.
Also, seeing as I'm only one person I'll offer a second ticket up if anyone wants it.
