Hamilton Cancellation Line |
We got in line about 4:00. The problem was people let others in right before the show. I guess one person holds the spot and then lets friends/spouses in. I'm not sure if there are always buses lined up there but that was really annoying. It was just too hot.
We had a similar problem where 3 people were taking 2 hour shifts for one spot. We thought there was only one person there. Next thing we know, there are 3 people and 3 plus ones. Any ideas how to stop this?

4:00 pm?

Yes, that is the pick-up location. I suggest to walk back, walk all the way West to 8th Avenue, then go up to 46th St and then head back down towards Broadway on 46th. You'll pass an outdoor market, The Imperial Theater, then you'll be at the Richard Rodgers.
Walking this way seems further but you can avoid the human congestion in Times Square.
Andy51 said: I bought Stubhub tickets for the matinee on July 9 (the final day of of Miranda and Odom) for myself and my 10 yr. old son (who is a huge Hamilton fan). The tickets turned out to be invalid and didn't scan. The box office gave me a sheet with the phone number for Stubhub. I figured we were screwed - it was already almost 2pm, and even though I knew we would get a refund, what were the chances we'd actually get seats for this performance? Moreover, a refund for the tickets doesn't compensate for travel expenses or a heartbroken child (and parent). Well, I called, and after about a 10 minute hold spoke to a rep who sent someone over pretty quickly with tickets. We missed the first 2 minutes of the show. But the seats they gave us were row J Orchestra, dead center - among the very best seats in the house- whereas the tickets we had bought were in the rear mezzanine. That left me with pretty positive feelings towards Stubhub, though I guess I wouldn't assume Stubhub always has backup tickets to give out in these situations.
I had a similar situation. Bought my sister a concert ticket at Yankee Stadium in the nosebleeds and sent her to the show. I was in Yonkers with my friends when my sister called in a panic saying that the ticket was invalid and denied entry. I quickly called SH And after about 20 minutes on the phone making arrangements, my sister was able to go to the SH offices not-so-near Yankee stadium and get her replacement ticket, field level seats. Thank goodness for opening acts, she didn't miss anything. The experience has left her with a bit of PTSD with any PDF printed ticket to be scanned. She cringes everytime she gets any ticket scanned. Even the ones I get her direct from the venue.
So StubHub was the hero that day. It's a much larger venue so they had plenty of seats to take from their sales inventory to make the accommodation. I'm so glad to read they had matinee seats to pull from for you and your son.
It's 11am on a Thursday and there are only 5 people in line for 8 tickets. We're all pretty surprised but happy to be in a good spot. We have a bet on how many people take a photo of the Quik Park across the street, it's at 12 right now.
We arrived at: 1st-6:25, 2nd-7:05, 3/4th-7:40, 5th-8:30
That is crazy! We did the line two Thursdays-ago and there were probably 20 of us by this time! Excited for you guys!
I know! Thank you! I slept in the cancellation line in June and July when it was around 50 people, so this is a nice change lol.

Update: there are 15 people in line. No tickets have been released yet. 43 people have taken a picture of the Quik Park. One person even wanted to be in the photo!
it's literally just a Vertical Parking Garage, nothing extraordinary, not even a fancy car. We suspect some people hadn't seen one before. No lottery winners here, one premium ticket offered but no one bit.
I heard that the last person in line yesterday (Thursday) to get tix was 12th in line (he arrived 3pm for the 7pm show). He got 7th row center for $199. Not too shabby! There was a SRO ticket left after that. When I went last Saturday, I was 12th in line (got there 650am for the 2pm matinee). The last tix went to #10th in line. #11 bought the single SRO ticket. For me, it was 7 hours of waiting to no avail.
I arrived at 6:30 am on Saturday and was 4th in line, the others having arrived at 5:45 and 6:00 am. The next folks showed up at 7:30. At 10:00 am premium tickets were offered, but only 1 person in line wanted a pair. At 10:15am RRT staff cut off the line at 20 (regardless of how many tickets are wanted) and told the others after 20 to leave and come back at 5:30. I'm not sure what happened to them.
For those concerned about the heat, it is cool in the shade and a nice breeze comes through. If you are the first 20, you will be in the shade. I got more of a sweat waiting in the subway for ten minutes than sitting here for the last 4 hours.
*Update*
At least 11 of us got in. There could have been more but I'm not positive. Chris Jackson and Oak were out for the performance. Sydney was Burr.
Conclusion from the Thursday 8/18 line. I had started at 7am and I got the third ticket given out at 6pm. I'm not sure what happened after that, but it sounds like they gave out a decent amount. I got F106, a fantastic seat for an excellent performance. Burr, Washington, Angelica, and George were my favorites. I really wanted to like Michael as Hamilton. I wasn't totally convinced with his acting but he grew on me and I enjoyed his voice.
Best of luck to all those going to brave the line! It really is quite fun.

Did you see Lexi as Eliza? How was she? I haven't been hearing that much about her performance.

I did! I thought she did a fine job. I wasn't blown away but not disappointed either. I felt maybe she could have expressed greater emotion with some of the more serious scenes but her voice was nice.

Thanks! I never got to see Phillipa in the role (which I'm still kind of bitter about) but I'm seeing the show in a few months so I'm just really curious about Lexi's performance because Eliza is currently my favorite character in the musical.

How's the line been lately? I'm curious to see if there have been more people since Brandon Victor Dixon started as Burr [also since they announced Renee's departure
