Does Anyone Here Have a Crowd-funding Success Story to Share?

Several much younger colleagues of mine are always talking about their plans for this that and other. Whenever I question how they plan to fund their ventures, they inevitably respond with...crowdsourcing, crowdfunding, microcredit, etc.

Earlier today I actually funded someone's venture via a crowd-funding app for the first time. I have an idea for an online business but my pride will not allow me go hat in hand on the Internet. And I'm worried that someone else would beat me to market once I publicized the plan.

So, I'd really like to learn of any success that any of you have enjoyed in this area if it's something that you're comfortable revealing.
