First row balcony or second row mezzanine at Matilda?

I am tall and not skinny, so I'm wondering if you might have any suggestions for which option is going to have a bit more leg room at the Shubert. My seat choices are first row of the balcony, or the second row of the mezzanine. That seat is on the far right and is one of the special offer tickets, which I assume means a less-than-ideal view. However, it's at the end - although I'm unclear whether that's a wall or an aisle - which could presumably mean a bit more room?

Which would you pick? Does the front row of the balcony have more leg room than the rest of the balcony? I've read so many reviews warning me against the lack of leg room in the balcony that I'm nervous, but I don't really have the budget for orchestra or the better mezzanine seats. I'll suck it up either way but I've got a bum knee and a few extra inches can make a real difference.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated!

Are there aisles on all sides of the mezzanine? The image made it look like a wall but it wasn't very clear.

Thanks, though - I'll just prepare to be squished regardless! Sigh.

It's an aisle and not a wall at the end of the aisle. Go with the mezzanine seats. They are much better. The first row of the Balcony should really be labeled as a partial view seat.

Done. Thank you!!!! I know an aisle will really improve my mood and thus I'll enjoy the show more. I'm super excited - Matilda was one of my favourite books as a kid and I can't wait to see the show.

It's a beautiful show! One of my favorite scores currently on Broadway. If you love the book, I'm sure you'll love the show. Enjoy!

We sat mezz 2nd row center B 101-102 and it was perfect!

I sat in the balcony house right about 6 seats in from the aisle and it was perfect. Especially for the view of the goings on in the box seats. The second time I sat mid orchestra house right and although I was closer, I think I liked sitting upstairs better. JMO

Everyone is different but for me personally, I HATE the balcony at the Shubert. It's just too far away and it's hard to see details of anything. Plus for Matilda, where the acoustics are somewhat a challenge, the balcony is the worst.

2nd row mezz is a much better alternative.

If I remember correctly the first row of the balcony actually has less leg space.  When I sat there for Memphis my knees were squashed against the railing.  You made the right choice.

The end of the front row of the mezzanine has a restricted view of the set - the edges of the set are not visible which does affect the experience.  My daughters sat there for the second act - since our top rows of the mezzanine were even more restricted by the balcony overhang.  They were on the right size of the mezzanine and their view of Quiet was affected.

Hi, Anyone know if the safety rail obstructs the view when seating in the front row aisle seat side section in mezzanine (seats A1 or A2)?
