Here is Derek Mong on 'Kid Victory' the new John Kander/Greg Pierce musical that opened last night at Signature Theatre. If you are visiting the DC area why not pop in and see it.

And John Stoltenberg has also posted his review-2 generations of reviewers looking at a new, brave work.

Caught this at today's matinee and liked it very much, to my surprise! What an odd show, but ultimately successful, IMO.
A lovely performance from young Jake Wynn!! He doesn't sing a note, but anchors this story with ease within the dark story. I loved the direction, and Mr. Kandor is still delivering beautiful music, and has a great partner in Mr. Pierce. I appreciated the bizarre story, but wondered what prompted the need to tell it. By the end, I was invested, which is what a story needs to do.
Loved Mr. Denman's work! He has an uphill battle as an actor, as the villain/savior for the protagonist. It is a tightrope he dances across, figuratively of course, as I think of him as a song and dance man. Not here. It's a non dancing acting role that surprises.
Ms. Knoll has a very difficult role as The Kid's mother. She sings beautifully and tangles the rough terrain as the actual main antagonist very well, but went up on her lines more than once.
Great work from Ms. Litszinger as well, and the rest of the cast is winning.
I strongly suggest getting tix, if you can this last week. I can see this OB, but would be tough to fill a Bway theater.

Finally got tickets for this today! Tickets are still available on Goldstar as well. I'm excited to see a "different" piece of work.

I've been seeing a lot of regional theatre over the year, so I'm proud to say that I've seen Donna Migliaccio in Gypsy, Beaches, and Sunday In the Park With George. I love her voice and her acting is phenomenal, so I'm REALLY looking forward to what she brings to this! Updated On: 3/15/15 at 07:40 AM
