I saw this last night and thought it was pretty good. I kind of hate that they bill it as a "workplace thriller" because there isn't really anything thriller about it. Everything is played pretty straightforward. The acting was all around very good. It's very exciting to finally see Dianne Wiest on stage after being a fan for so long. Tonya Pinkins was also great but did flub a few lines here and there.

My main issue was with the pacing. The play was a little slow. It's advertised as being 90 mins but last night it was an hour 45. There could definitely be 15 mins cut. There was also an issue with the scene changes. There are four blackouts and the last one really fooled everyone because we all thought it was over and the applause started (to be fair, people were applauding at each scene change for some reason). When they play started back I think everyone was kind of resolved to the fact that it was over and less interested in the final scene.

It's not the best play I've seen this year but hardly the worst.

I didn't love it. Clyde, your post really gets at a lot of the key issues. The pacing isn't great, to which I would add that the physical staging does it no favors. Pinkins and Wiest spend so much of the play seated at their desks, which impedes a lot of the physical aspects of their performances.

Much of the dialogue is banal in a way that the playwright probably thought would come across as symbolic in its banality, but is really just plain-old dull. The performances are all strong, but the play doesn't really take off until the last twenty minutes or so.

Does anyone have a discount code for this cheaper than what they have on Playbill?

No but they have rush tickets.

"Rush tickets can be purchased in-person, an hour before the performance for $27. There is only a general rush and not a separate student rush. Cash and credit accepted. Tickets are subject to availability."

I thought it was dreadful, despite the excellent performances by Pinkins and Weist.
