where to sit at cort being 6' 3"

I am 6' 3", 240lbs guy, planning on buying some tickets for the Larry David show at the Cort. I hate blocking people as much as I hate to be uncomfortable. I have never been in the Cort and was wondering if anyone with seating knowledge could suggest where exactly to sit at the Cort. I don't want to pay for orchestra, but if means being comfortable and not feeling anxious about disturbing someone elses experience, I will pay for the orchestra section. Is it just a matter of trying to get first row of whatever section (allowing to slouch with more legroom), or if the first rows don't have leg room, is last row my best option. Appreciate any advice.

Probably the last row. It is a small theater, however. I sat up there for This Is My Youth 2 rows from the back and we saw fine.

Well, the best advice would have been to ask this before the show was one of spring shows with the highest amount of advance sales before having a single performance... at this point, your equation shifts from desirability to availability.

I've been in both the orchestra and mezzanine of the Cort and both times they were very comfortable, even the mezzanine (haven't sat in the balcony though). P.S. I'm about 6' and 210 lbs.

I'm about 5'1 with very short legs and I found the mezzanine really tight legroom-wise.

The Cort does have a really comfortable balcony with a great view. The orchestra didn't seem as cramped either.

You're very considerate. But I would say sit wherever you want. You're paying for the ticket.

I'm 6'1. I don't like blocking people's view either, but I didn't choose my height! People will deal. The seats are staggered a bit so it's not like the person in the row in front of you is directly in front of your face anyway.

As for comfort... well, in the old playhouses the only seats that are more comfortable than others are probably aisle seats since at least you'd have leg room. (Though madbrian suggested the boxes-- that's not a bad idea.)

But as another poster pointed out, it seems like you don't have much of a choice on where you want to sit for Fish in the Dark-- very few seats remain (at least in the mezz & balcony).

Also, if you can snag an aisle seat, your height may be less of an impediment to others.

I'm a big guy too, so I like to get an aisle seat and be courteous and try to skooch down a little if I can. I would do the inner aisle seats on orchestra/mezz left or right (so seats 1 or 2), as when I've done the aisle in the center sections, it's not easy to maneuver my legs.

Unless the OP pays for a premium ticket, orchestra aisle isn't going to be an option, except on the extreme sides, which is where the majority of regularly-priced seats are available at this point.

I have front row center orchestra aisle for regular price, but I bought it the day tickets went on sale back in September...

The box seats at the Cort aren't horrendous on the first tier, and they're just regular chairs. Besides buying them directly from the box office, I'm not sure how to purchase them. Maybe call Telecharge.

PS - being 6'5, I share your struggle.

I'm not a big person and I find the Cort one of the most uncomfortable theaters in New York City.

I'm also 6'3" and have seen two shows at the Cort. The first time I was towards the back of the orchestra (maybe even the last row? Can't recall) and had no issues at all...nice leg room, good sight lines. The last time I was there I was in the balcony, and will never sit there again. I'd rather spend more money than have to limp down the stairs again at the end of the night. Absolutely no leg room (plus I have a bad knee so was actually in a fair amount of pain towards the end of both acts), plus the seats aren't too wide, so the larger stranger next to me was uncomfortably close to me. So yeah, don't sit in the balcony.

Anybody know what the view is like from the box seats? There's some available for a few performances further down the line, like March and April. But the simulated view on Telecharge's website makes it seem like you'll be looking at a wall...however, the increased price over orchestra seats in the back rows tells me the view probably isn't that bad.

Never seen anything at the Cort, however, so I really have no clue what sight lines are like in there. Can anyone give some pointers/experience? Thanks!!

I sat in the first box on the left for The Cripple of Inishmaan, and it was a fantastic view, completely unobstructed. Granted, Cripple was played entirely downstage, which is why I think I was able to see everything so well. Had they utilized the entire stage, I definitely would've missed a good chunk of the action in the corner of the side closest to me.

With that said, I personally would take the risk if it's a price you feel comfortable paying. It could turn out to be a really great deal depending upon how the show is staged; I felt very close to all of the action.

Anyone over 5'6 should not be allowed into any theater, with the exception of movie theaters with stadium seating. Sorry, just how I see it (or don't see it if you're over 5'6).
Bur seriously, since you're being considerate in actually asking, my husband is 6'2. We try (at the very least) for an aisle. Most people sitting behind you will/should be able to see "though" you and the person sitting next to you or if the action is on the other side, they can shift.
Worst case scenario last row of whatever section you're sitting in. It's a small theater.

Thanks, Cupid Boy2! Left side isn't available for the date I can go, but I'm gonna give the right side a try. Hopefully it works out! At the very least, it'll be memorable as the first time I've sat in any box seats for a show. :)
