Audra McDonald is appearing at Madrid's Teatro Real (the opera house) in concert on Saturday January 31st. I don't think she is in concert anywhere else in Europe. Anyway here is the link for anyone who is interested. She will be doing songs by Gershwin, Sondheim, Kander and Ebb and Michael John LaChuisa. I already have my ticket and can't wait to see this 6 time Tony award winner live!
Impressive programme for those of you who are interested - I'll post my review on Sunday or Monday.

What an incredible emotionally charged evening. She was superb as she took us through laughter and tears, joy and sadness. We even got to do a singalong to I could Have Danced All Night until she told us to be quiet for her solo. She is such a classy lady and the audience was hers right from the start. I was reminded of a press review of Ethel Merman's show at the London Palladium many years ago. The critic listed adjectives from A-Z to describe Merman's stellar performance. Obviously I am not going to emulate that review but instead of adjectives I would list superlatives to describe this most amazing actress - the best. the most charming, the most divine ... I'll leave you to fill in the blanks. No wonder she has won six Tony Awards. The concert for me definitely was one of the most fulfilling theatrical experiences that I have ever witnessed and I have been a theatregoer for over 40 years. Thank you Audra for sharing your stunning talent with us.
It was really sensational! I was a little disappointed that I've heard her do all these songs in concert before, but that's minor. She is the greatest ever.
I think Climb Every Mountain was her "last" song - she then did two encores the second being Over the Rainbow. For some reason I have blocked out the first encore - hopefully just a senior moment!
Oh yes Over the Rainbow! Yeah the other encore was "When Did I Fall In Love" which she usually opens with. Thanks! How could I forget Over the Rainbow? I loveee that she introduced people to its intro; it's so beautiful.
