This is constantly in my thoughts and even more so 10 years on as I flew out of Phuket 2 days before the tsunami. Before this disaster not many even knew what that word meant. I was staying at a gay hotel right on the beach and there were no survivors. I used to walk very early each morning on the beach and natural curiosity, as was the case as there was an extremely low tide, everyone would have walked ,me included, as far out as you could ,exploring this newly uncovered shoreline-not knowing what it meant and what was to follow . Christmas with my family, that year was very emotional. I have since been back many times to see the remarkable rebuiling and experience the resiliant spirit of the Thailand community.
