Hi! I'm a headshot photographer from Long Island. I'm running a deal right now where a headshot session only costs $100 and you get 4 retouched 8x10s. Check out my website over at www.wrightshots.com and send me an email at danright@wrightshots.com WrightShots
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
If one is truly serious about performing, headshots is not the place to skimp. Maybe you'll get lucky, but 99,999 times out of 100,000 you get what you pay for.
Looking through this portfolio the shots don't look bad but they all look like they're the same actor. To me, none of these portraits conveys anything about the subjects other than a basic "this is what I look like". Your headshot is your business card, your foot in the door. If you have no agent or few credits, it's possibly the only thing that will stand out and get you an appointment. It needs to be you and nobody else. This photographer seems to capture all his/her subjects exactly the same. Same composition, same lighting, same basic "feel".
I've seen far, far, far worse (and I'm sure people have paid far more that $100 for them) but caveat emptor. Having something that you are proud to have represent you is more important than saving a few bucks if you are truly serious about booking jobs.
