And thanks to the series, I'm now familiar with the stellar work of Lubna Azabel. If you haven't seen the miniseries, it lives up to the hype. I binge-watched all 8 parts last weekend.

^ Nearly the correct spelling, but not quite.

Isn't she superb in everything?

I'm certain that I cut-n-pasted her name from another source. It's been corrected. Thanks for pointing that out.

I had a mixed impression of this one. I think it started out very promisingly with the first 4-5 episodes, but once most of the central mysteries of the story were solved (or, leading in an obvious direction), the whole affair lost momentum and got marred in ridiculous plot lines. Not Homeland-Season-3-ridiculous, but still, pretty damn silly. Lovely cinematography and an endless parade of sepia toned shots of Maggie Gyllenhall looking wistfully out a window can't save you there. Honestly, this was a 6 hour series unnecessarily extended into 8 hours. I think that's probably largely an issue of having one person be the EP, director and writer for every single episode. There's no one else in the room saying, hey, Hugo, that's a bit naff, perhaps you should rewrite that.

I enjoyed the series but still have serious doubts whether the intricate, ambitious plot makes any sense (or whether it really matters that it might not).

Liked Maggie a lot although less would have been more with the inappropriate laughter. The first two times she did it it worked like a charm, after that it became cloying.

Liked Luba though I often couldn't understand what the **** she was saying.

Totally loved Ygal Naor and Janet McTeer.

But the top acting honors in this embarrassment of riches go to Steven Rea. He was beyond brilliant.

Another thought. This series portrays terrorist motivations with far more tragic depth of understanding than Klilnghoffer and arguably more objectivity and less canned judgment.

Thankfully, this time, unless I missed the boat, no one is complaining. (maybe that can be chocked up to it being completely fictional)

Which is all the more strange given that - spoiler alert - of all the parties in the Middle East conflict (and no one comes off well here!) the one that arguably comes off as the most evil is...... wait for it......
