Hello everyone !
Well, I am very happy to say that, with some help from the wonderful board members who responded to my other thread and a lot of personal search, almost all shows for my January Trip are booked. I initially wanted to keep a last-minute while there booking approach, in the hope of getting good seats at good prices but since I enjoy theater only when I'm up close, I decided I didn't want to leave anything to chance.
Plus, I took advantage of some already released discount codes and the fact that many theaters charge Orchestra Front row, which I usually love, at regular full price and not Premium. I just hope stage is not too high on the shows I got front row ! Shows BOOKED for my January Trip !!! All tickets are Orchestra.
So, here they are :

Wednesday Jan 7 ELEPHANT MAN matinee (2nd row Center)
BEAUTIFUL evening (Front Row center)
Thursday ON THE TOWN (8th Row center)
Friday CONSTELLATIONS (2nd Row Left)
Saturday THE RIVER (Riverbank seat Front Row right side)
Sunday IF/THEN matinee (2nd Row center)
IT'S ONLY A PLAY evening (Front Row center)
Monday SLEEP NO MORE (will book while in NYC)
Tuesday THE LION KING (4th Row center)
Wednesday MATILDA matinee (3rd Row center)
LES MIS evening (6th Row center)
Thursday Will try tkts for KINKY BOOTS
Friday ALADDIN (4th row center)
Sunday GENTLEMAN'S GUIDE TO MURDER (Front Row Left Orch aisle)
Tuesday BOOK OF MORMON (6th Row Left Orchestra side)

I will wait for Discount codes on SIDE SHOW and will probably see it on my first day there, on Jan. 6. I realy hope it is around by then !

So, looking forward to your thoughts, comments and especially information about my seating choices, if you have and care to tell me. Shows BOOKED for my January Trip !!!

I am sooooo looking forward to this trip, Holidays can't pass soon enough ! Have a great weekend, all !

Thank you Jeffrey ! Shows BOOKED for my January Trip !!!

Deena, as Jeffrey pointed out, I will definitely see Side Show but right now Discount codes go only up to December 18 or 21, I think. I checked the Discounted seats on offer for now and thankfully they do offer great seats, so I will wait a while until the new discounts come up.

The most infuriating show on my search is KINKY BOOTS. Discounts online are really rare and until December and the discounted seats offered are really on the far back and on the far sides. This is really puzzling, since a friend who is right now in NY, just saw it a few days ago, finding Front row seats from tkts for a $100 !!! I really want to see it but it looks like this is one show I am definitely waiting till I'm in town for tickets !

Wow. I've had some big trips before but nothing like this. I hope the shows don't blend together in your mind. I hope you have time to savor each one. The only one missing is Curious incident. Phenomenal. And re kinky boots I had the same experience when I saw it last spring. For weeks I watched it show an average ticket price of $75 then late spring there were no discounts and it drawing 100%. I was lucky to get it at about $80. Mid orchestra side. I think I would hold out too. January. They'll be giving them away. I know you are enjoying the anticipation.

Well, on one hand I am enjoying the anticipation a little and getting very excited but on the other hand I am counting the days and can't wait for the Holidays to come and pass !!! I've been away too long from my most beloved city on earth, my wonderful friends there and of course, the sheer magic and excitement of Broadway !!!
About Curious Incident, initially I was very interested, so I got the book and unfortunately didn't like it, so I decided to pass on it. Can't see everything anyway, even though I'd love to ! Shows BOOKED for my January Trip !!!

None of those front rows seem like a big issue, aside from The River, which I can't comment on solely because I don't see if for another 2 weeks. I wouldn't worry about the others at all.

Thank you all for your comments and wishes !

ozone, yours looks like a great trip, too ! Don't know if I could do two shows on a daily basis, I'm already a bit worried about the ones I'm doing on the same day, since as comden rightly said, I wouldn't want to blend them in my mind, but process and enjoy them all !

I wish I could catch an off-broadway show but they are so many and so diverse, I get lost searching them. Maybe "Sex tips for Straght women from a gay man", it looks hilarous. I have no idea how off-Broadway musicals are, in production terms. This is my 4th trip to New York City and the only off-Broadway show I've seen was Naked Boys Singing, which was just OK. I still have left a whole Saturday and a Monday empty, so we'll see. The only one I am really sad I am missing is Here Lies Love, I really wanted to see it but it closes just before I get into town..

Oh and I really wish Bryce Pinkham is with Gentleman's Guide until Jan. 18, which is when I am seing the show. I know he will depart some time in January to start reharsals on his next show but I hope it's after that. I have a feeling and a hope that, since this is a Sunday, this could be his last show, which would be an amazing coincidence !

I don't think you will have a problem with the KB tickets on a Thursday night after the holidays. You might have good luck with the lottery and it should also be at the TKTS booth the same day. It's also a small theater and there are very few seats that are not decent..

Good luck and please report on your experiences...

Thank you Kathy, will certainly do !

So, everyone, any tips about the Best or definitely Unmissable Off-Broadway show ? I think I would prefer a Musical or a good comedy or maybe something gay-themed. Not heavy, serious stuff. I'm really warming up to the idea of an Off- Broadway visit ( Sleep no more doesn't count, it's more of an "experience" than an actual show, in my opinion).

Just a tip in general, if you wind up at the tkts booth at the early part of your trip, you have 7 days to go back without waiting on the long line. There is a very short line up front for repeaters or veterans or possibly some other special situations I am not familiar with.

Greek, regarding off Broadway, there are always fantastic shows playing, especially this season, but they tend to be limited runs. Three of my recent favorites, Our Lady of Kibeho, The Underclassman (a musical), and Father Comes Home From the Wars, will all have ended by January. But check back closer to your trip, and I'm sure the folks here will have recommendations for you. The Public, Signature, Atlantic, Playwright's Horizons, etc., always have something interesting cooking!

There's a revival coming of David Ives' Lives of Saints, but I can't find who's doing it and when. Does anyone know?

Guys and girls, I really need some help !

Ok, I just found out that during my time in the city there is a show on 54 Below, with Celine Dion songs, starring JEREMY JORDAN !!!! As evident by my picture here Shows BOOKED for my January Trip !!! I ADORE Jeremy and has never seen him live, so it would be a dream come true, even if I'm not a big Celine fan and he sings a couple of songs !

The problem is, I am seing CONSTELLATIONS that night at 8. The 54 Below show starts at 9.30 ! I know that Constellations is not a long play, the London one was 1h10minutes with no intermission, so maybe it's doable, but since I have never been to 54 Below, if I have a ticket will they let me in, if I arrive 5-10 minutes after it has started and will they keep my table seat ?? The venue is like a lounge club, right ? I am sure since he is the star of the show he will probably not sing at the beginning, so it looks doable ! Is it ??

If you have 15 minutes to get from your show to 54 Below, I can't imagine you'll miss a note.

Also, there is no guarantee that as a bigger name he will go toward the end. It is likely, but he can just as easily not want to hang out all night and ask to go on early. Updated On: 11/22/14 at 11:44 AM

Thank you, haterobics, you are always so helpful and I really appreciate it, you are wonderful !

My only concern is if they let people in, once the show starts. It looks like I'll be cutting it very close, depending on January weather, how fast can I walk from the Samuel Friedman to 54 Below etc, so I'd hate to arrive 5 or 10 minutes after the show starts and be denied entrance !

Also, on a fan-boy silly note, is there a stage-door or any chance to meet performers afterwards ?

It's cabaret unassigned seating, not reserved, so the later you get there, the further away from the stage you will be (that said, it only fits like 120 people or so, and very intimate). So it's not like you will be pushing your way up toward the stage (unless you buy a premium seat). People were arriving late when I saw Patti LuPone last week. Not an issue.

I think you can make it about 10 minutes, tops? It is only 8-9 short blocks from the theater.

Usually, the performers come out into the same room after the show to meet fans, although in the case of a show like this, where he is one of many performers, he may choose to sing early and bounce. Whereas at a Jeremy Jordan show, he would probably make more of an effort to meet people afterward. Updated On: 11/22/14 at 12:07 PM
