It's grosses are pretty solid. It make almost $200,000 than Cabaret last week, $300,000 more than Love Letters which had a higher percentage of filled seats, and $100,000 than The River with Hugh Jackman.
It's percentages aren't the best, but the grosses are strong enough to keep this show running well into the spring.
To compare the grosses of OTT to Love letters and The River made me laugh. OTT has a company of over 100 people...the others may have 15. If the producers have deep pockets, they will keep it running, if not, they are in trouble because the grosses are pretty meh which is sad because it is such a great production. They are probably making 100-150 grand a week at this point. If Rocky ran for 6 months and Last Ship is still running, there is no justice if this closes early. The winter slump will be brutal for them.
PalJoey-I respect your responses here so---I have only been a 'contributing' member a short while and when I was courageous enough to submit something I was called a troll, sock puppet and something else[had to look them all up because I'd never heard those terms before]. So---how do you know this is a troll, what does it matter, and why call a person that? Always been curious, so your answer and others' appreciated. Thanks, and I don't THINK I'm a troll
People who create accounts and on the same day pose a question that seems sure to get people arguing with each other are, often, trolls. Trolling is inciting conflict.
The troll often doesn't return to further discuss the question, which makes it look more like it was trolling for an argument. Sometimes the troll will come back, but only return to the thread in question, without participating in the life of the board.
Occasionally, it's for real: Someone has a burning question about theater and joins the board just to ask that question, but it is a sincere question, and the person has no idea will spark any controversy.
Sometimes, but not often.
If you click "PROFILE" under gluckman's name, you will see a list of the other posts he or she made in addition to starting this thread.
As someone who was mislabeled as a troll, I don't think it's fair to assume that any poster is a troll unless they are actively rude to other posters. It is possible that this is how gluckman wanted to introduce himself/herself/themselves and was genuinely curious what other people thought. Of course, he/she/they could also be a troll and I could end up eating my words, but only time will tell. As for On the Town, it will close when weekly grosses drop below its weekly running costs, or when the Ambassador group decides that a different show could come in and generate more profit.
Yeah, after I shut down my Facebook and Twitter accounts, I started hanging on here more often, which set off people's alarms. Since I went from zero to posting a lot, people were asking who I used to be before on here, etc. It happens, but I do think Pal Joey has been around long enough to know we're outliers in the grand scheme of things...
First of all, yes, as you all can see I'm a new member to this forum. I didn't think posing such a question with a genuine interest would cause such an ordeal. I came to this forum as an avid Tony fan along with an ongoing curiosity and burning passion in projecting a show's fate. I'm sorry if that offended anyone. I enjoy hearing and sharing ideas with my peers. I opened up the question because I thought a healthy, fun conversation would ensue where we all could share our thoughts.
But why do so many of my split personalities care about potential Tony Awards, what should go in what theater next, weekly nuts, stagedooring, and all of these things that I seemingly don't care about?!
I think they will pick up a ton of business during the holidays. It's a great show for families. I can see nominations (at the very least) for Tony Yasbeck and Megan Fairchild.

Gluckman, welcome. Please do NOT apologize for joining today and creating this thread. The only people who freaked out, were mean to you for no reason, and were just dicks in general aren't worth knowing or interacting with. People get offended by the tiniest, most petty things these days, and getting all pissy because someone posts their first day is definitely one of those things. Just ignore them, and enjoy posting
