I'm a Male Auditioning for Dogfight, help?

Hello BWW!

I'm auditioning for a production of Dogfight and I'm looking for a great audition song that screams "Eddie", as it's an open call, and they don't ask for preference regarding roles.

Also, the audition is a capella which can make a difference in song choice.

Really, I'm just looking for songs that vaguely resemble Eddie's song "Come Back" from Dogfight.

Songs that I've looked at (let me know if any of these are good!):
"Do You Remember?" by Pasek & Paul
"Caught in The Storm" by Pasek & Paul (from SMASH)
"Santa Fe" from Newsies

I have a baritone-tenor range, and am comfortable up to a G and can belt up to a B.

Hi! Dogfight is one of my favorites! I did Come to a party/Nothing short of wonderful for a showcase recently and it was so much fun!

I think Santa Fe is a good choice, it should work well a Capella especially if you really put some passion into it. It is a bit overdone but I believe that the reason directors cringe at the thought of super overdone songs is because they heard them done so poorly. So, If done well I think it's a great choice.

I'll keep thinking about this and let you know if I come up with anything. :)

Hey there! Thank you so much, I actually had my audition last weekend and ended up singing Santa Fe, and I got in :)

I didn't end up getting Birdlace, but 300 people ended up auditioning so I was extremely happy to find out I got in!! Thanks again for your advice!!!
