The first challenge found a previous PR winner and runner up at the bottom facing elimination. I can't bring myself to identify which designer went home first. She didn't seem as committed to her aesthetic as she did in season 11.
I will reveal though that Fabio Costa is better at crisis management this time and Alexandria von Bromssen is showing a lot of growth. I'm anxious to see what Samantha Black brings to the table now that she gets to fly solo. This is a highly competitive group talent-wise. But, the stage is set for some hellacious fights.
I've only seen snippets of the previous season, but Alyssa Milano seems much more relaxed and fun in this premiere. I was digging it. I loved the jumpsuit and hated Patricia's outfit. I haven't watched PR in 8 years or so, but caught the marathon and premiere yesterday, and I'm such an Alyssa Milano fan I am probably on board for this round.
"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"
This is the first time I've seen All Stars. I definitely miss Heidi, Nina and even avuncular over-praiser Tim, but they do have a pretty killer line-up of contestants. Oh God. The deaf one is back. In every interview and every runway intro, he's going to mention that he's gay and deaf and that is why he should win. Forget about the mediocre clothes, I'm GAY *AND* DEAF!
I was rather surprised that Michelle was in the bottom. I thought her suede dress was very chic and much stronger than some of the designers who were... safe. Safe? The fat chick from Who's The Boss isn't allowed to say "in"?
I can't get over how much Alyssa has improved as host. Last year I was probably one of the first posters here who wanted to vote her off the island.
Several of the female designers are hyper-competitive and self-centered, especially Michelle. Michelle has already started with the catty remarks about Kate.
Michelle might be a touch catty, but she's also makes insightful and often funny comments about what she sees in the work room. I'll take that over another 10 "yaaas gurrrrll" clones.
It would be nice to have a break from one series to the other. Not to say not going to watch it but a breather for the sake of the shows would be nice.
"I hope your Fanny is bigger than my Peter."
Mary Martin to Ezio Pinza opening night of Fanny.
"I was rather surprised that Michelle was in the bottom. I thought her suede dress was very chic and much stronger than some of the designers who were... safe."
This is one of the times where I almost suspect some producer manipulation to create a touch of drama. It was clear that it was between Patricia and Kate to go home. They could have put any of the women up there to fill out the bottom three, but by putting Michelle, the winner of her season (and who was my top favorite in her season right from the start), up there it creates a bit of tension and could potentially spark some dramatic fires.
Except they REALLY hated her choice of fabric, not the design itself. And that can make all the difference.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
