Has anyone seen both Taylor Trensch and Alex Sharp in Curious Incident? I've got limited time in new York coming up, and am hoping to catch said show. Is one actor decidedly preferable to the other?

I would say Sharp is the one to see. He's the one that got reviewed, etc.

I saw the tapped version of the London production, and I was surprised at how small the show was compared to its American counterpart. Surprised they didn't opt for the Circle in the Square for this show based on the London staging. I guess it works fine the way it is now, but I can better appreciate some of the choices knowing it was once in the round.

I haven't seem Trensch but I was utterly floored by Sharp's performance. Really not one to be missed.

And regarding the staging, the tapes version was actually filmed at the Nstional Theatre, when the production transferred to the West End, it was restaged for a proscenium stage. I assume they just thought it would be better to transfer the Olivier award winning staging as opposed to returning to the in the round staging.

I've seen Alex 3 times, and Taylor once. Do yourself a favor and see Alex if possible. I thought he was MILES better than Taylor. He doesn't physically get into the role by doing all the tics like Alex does. And his emotional range isn't quite up there with Alex. I was moved the times I saw Alex. Taylor, not so much. Taylor goes on Wednesday evening and Sunday.

ultraviolet99, has Taylor's schedule changed? It was widely reported in most of the reviews that he performs Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday matinees.

Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

I stopped by the box office and asked yesterday and the schedule has changed. Taylor performs Wednesday evening and Sunday. Alex does all other performances.

Yeah, Alex did miss last Saturday matinee, but I believe it was only because they had a show on Monday this week. Otherwise, for the past 3 weeks it's been the Wednesday evening and Sunday performances for Taylor.

Good to know! It still felt like it didn't belong on that stage to me, design wise, but I loved the show.

I attended a screening of the National production a while back where the producers were present. I got to talk to one and brought up Circle in the Square. He said they thought about it briefly but really wanted to bring the West End production over since it was so well received.

Makes sense. Forgot it transferred to a proscenium theater.

Seeing it next Wednesday matinee, so it sounds like Alex WILL be doing it then?

I have not seen Alex Sharp, but I thought Taylor Trensch was absolutely wonderful in the role. I work with some teens who have autism and Trensch reminded me of them. It's a dynamic and believable performance.

I am curious about Sharp's performance and would like to know what the differences are. So maybe I'm on my next trip I'll try and see Sharp. But Trensch brought the house down the night I saw it (December 17).

I went to see the Broadway production's opening night and was absolutely stunned and shocked with Alex Sharp's performance. He was brilliant- an absolute shoein for a Tony nomination, if not win. However I've seen a lot of Taylor's past work and have friends who saw him perform as Christopher and loved him. Either way, you're in good hands with this great show no matter who you see.

I've been lucky enough to see both actors in the role and each are wonderful.
Each has their own take on the role and are worth seeing. If you see Taylor, you are not being short changed in any way shape or form.

Is there a way to tell which one is performing this coming Monday?

Does anyone know if Taylor's schedule is still just Wednesday evenings and Sunday matinees?

I saw the Sunday matinee this past Sunday 12/28 and Alex was on. Maybe the holiday schedule altered their normal schedule.

Does anyone know if the schedule has changed?
I saw the show in November with Taylor and he was absolutely FANTASTIC, but I'd love to see Alex.
Thanks!

I saw the show with Taylor when the show first opened and he was fantastic. I have tickets to see the show again on a Friday in February. Hoping to catch Alex this time. Alex usually performs Friday's?

Saw Alex in the role last night and really enjoyed him and the first act of the show. Second act seemed choppy and a bit tedious and I found myself (and some of those seated right around me) getting restless.

Is there nudity involved with this performance?

Two short moments of a shirtless chest of the main character when he is changing.

Saw Taylor a few months ago, and just saw Alex this weekend. Both are amazing, but I slightly preferred Taylor's interpretation. So don't worry if you have tickets for a Wednesday evening or Sunday matinee show, you can't go wrong either way.
