I probably won't be upgrading until December. I'm out on the road right now and can only imagine how long it would take on these various hotel wifi networks.

I did the upgrade right when they released it. Took about 7 hours start to finish. I am assuming the time it takes will decrease as the week goes on.

So far Notifications is driving me crazy. Think going to turn it off completely. Still checking a lot out but not sure if one of the upgrades was faster speed but a lot of programs seem to be a lot faster.

Only about two hours for me to download, then maybe another half an hour to install.

The interface difference is a lot like the visual shock going from iOS 6 to iOS 7. VERY different.

There is a OS update and the iPhones and iPads today. The pay thing is on.

My experience with Yosemite was similar to Taryn's. The interface has gone from 3D to 2D to 1.5D over the past few iterations...very flat looking.

However, I noticed a nice improvement in speed for my mid-2010 27" iMac. Several friends have said the same thing re: increased speed.

And iOS 8.2 just came out today, which will let me take advantage of the thing I was most excited about: be able to text ANYONE on my computer with Messages, not just other people with iPhones.

Every time I have tried to text from the computer since the upgrade it fails.

I had a hotel with a great wifi speed last night, so I bit the bullet and did the upgrade. The download took about an hour and the install about 45 minutes total. So far I'm happy with it, though the new look is taking some getting used to.

Downloading the iOS update now. That texting feature is one I'm very much looking forward to.

I just have an update for 8.1 going from 8.0.1.

Also if someone can answer this question. On my iPhone do I want to keep my wi-fi on or off? I had to turn it on to do this update.

I ususally wait a couple of months for the bugs and other instability to be sorted out before updating but Im really tempted to update this time, since its so different, and free. And doesnt seem like many people are experiencing problems...

If you're typically using a wireless network at home/work, it is better to use it, so you're not eating up your data plan. Plus, it is often faster than cellular data.

My only issue with Yosemite so far is the part where you can answer your iphone on your computer now. I got a call yesterday, and my iPhone, iMac, and MacBook Pro all start ringing, with the latter two continuing to ring for a good 10 seconds after I had already answered the call, heh.

Will just leave it on. I always thought I did but when I went to do the last upgrade it was off.

I had to turn that function off as I was on the call and my iPad continued to ring for a long time. Was hoping they would have fixed that prior to the release of Yosemite as it started for me with the upgrade for the iPhone/ipad.

I thunk under the little phone banner on the iMac you can change your preferences as to rings and what have nots... I will check tonight.

I am glad I still have Apple Care on my iMac. System was getting slower and slower where I was constantly getting the spinning wheel/beachball on the screen. I would say in total about 4 hours on the phone. Apple dialed into my computer. Had me clear files and such. Take off a couple of programs and then reboot.

Same issue after that. They then had me reinstall Yosemite ( They said quite a few people are having this issue).

Seems to be running fine now. I also mentioned to them that I keep turning off notification banners for email as I don't want them to come up on the screen but once I sign off the settings revert back.

Seems to be an issue they are aware of.

Hope others are going a little more smoothly.
