THE ALEXANDER TECHNIQUE FOR SINGERS AND ACTORS

A small group class for 4 performers, with AmSAT-certified instructor Eleanor Taylor - limited enrollment

DATES:
4 Mondays, 6:00-7:30pm: Oct 20, 27, Nov. 3 & 10
OR
4 Fridays, 10:30am-noon: Oct 24, 31, Nov. 7 & 14

Learn the fundamentals of the Alexander Technique in a personalized, supportive small group environment designed specifically for the needs of voice-users. In this 4 week series, you will receive individual hands-on guidance in the Alexander Technique, a self-care method that has helped people enhance performance, alleviate stress, ease back and neck pain, and cultivate freer breathing for over a century. Discover how you can put the technique’s powerful tools to work in your own performances and auditions to calm nerves and reduce habitual tensions that can interfere with accessing your fullest performing potential. Classes will introduce the basic Alexander principles, and participants will have the opportunity to share work while receiving guidance in the technique in a relaxed, non-competitive setting. Maximum 4 participants.

COST: $120 for one series of four classes. (Mondays or Fridays)
Participants may also add private sessions with Eleanor throughout the class term at a discounted rate of $50 per lesson (up to 3 lessons; lessons must be taken by November 21st.)

ABOUT ELEANOR: Eleanor Taylor, m.AmSAT, is an American Society for the Alexander Technique-certified teacher, and has completed more than 1600 hours of teacher training in the Alexander Technique, including assisting in teaching at the Juillard School and the Alexander Technique Center for Performance and Development. Her instructors include Jessica Wolf, Gwen Ellison, John Nicholls and Nanette Walsh. She has also trained in Jessica Wolf’s "The Art of Breathing", and emphasizes healthy, easeful breathing as the foundation of her teaching. She has been an active professional singer for two decades, holding degrees in vocal performance from New England Conservatory (B.M.) and the University of Minnesota (M.M.) and specializes in working with performers. www.eleanortaylorAT.com
