Has anybody been to see Here Lies Love in Previews at the Dorfman yet?
I am currently listening to the Public Recording non-stop, can't get enough of the score and really looking forward to seeing it in January.

I wouldn't describe this as awful theatre or brilliant theatre, but I would use instead excellent entertainment. This is a show that I have never witnessed anything like this before and the staging is exhilarating.
Saw it last Sat eve from the dance pit. I really enjoyed (most of) it and the cast and production were without exception faultless. Especially Natalie Mendoza.
Gotta say that it's a bit disappointing that there is so little reaction from people on this site to new stuff like this (3 comments?). I am seeing this in December and can't wait, though at my age I will in the seated area, not dancing with the cast
It's a total sell out, which for me is a complete disaster. I hate my life sometimes.
Why don't you go? Why don't you leave Manderley? He doesn't need you... he's got his memories. He doesn't love you, he wants to be alone again with her. You've nothing to stay for. You've nothing to live for really, have you?
I'm yet to see it, but if this transfers due to the staging of it, surely there are very few West End venues that could accommodate the staging?
I doubt (from what I've heard and read) that they would restate it, David Byrne and Alex Timbers' vision and whatnot. Would it work restaged? If not, where could it go?

Having not seen how its done, could it share a venue with a nightclub, or is this just not logistically feasible?
Also, is it economically viable outside the subsidised NT, given the number of tickets per show, etc?

The tickets were SO cheap at the NT. Could be another case of Spring Awakening. Sold out on a cheap ticket off-West End then couldn't find an audience at normal WE prices. Though maybe they'll find a club space in Shoreditch or somewhere like that where rents etc might be lower and they can subsidize with bar takings.
I think this show has much wider appeal than Spring Awakening, which would appeal more to a Broadway cognoscenti audience.

Anyway, some sort of miracle happened last night, two tickets popped up on the website for tonight and I'm damn well going!

Did you enjoy it Eurotrash? Personally I thought it was poppy fluff until "Rise Up" where the songs seemed to drive the story along in a lot more of a successful way and suddenly I started loving it. Corse could have something to do with the fact that I had to race to get to the NT on time after a crazy long day at work on a Saturday as well.
Still can't believe Natalie Mendoza has the stamina to be THAT focused, intense and vocally powerful for the whole show and barely leaving the stage. I will definitely be going back. Probably more than once.
