Men Taking Up Too Much Space on the Bus/Train Blogs

This seems to be a huge internet *thing*. Women posting pics of rude male behaviour on public transportation. Some of the sties are more extreme than others. And trust me, I've had my share of seeing bad beaviour on transit (people--men and women who grab an aisle seat and won't move over or even get up and let you grab the window seat. Or who won't move their bag so you can sit down.) And I've seen my share of guys who do hog way more space than they can, but I admit, a lot of these strike me as faintly ridiculous examples to get so upset about (especially the one blog that says it's all a power display on the part of the men who should always sit with their knees pressed together even when nobody is beside them--honestly, that's not exactly a natural way to sit--though neither is it to sit with your legs stretched as far apart as possible.)

Of course the men foolish enough to write in, at least who get published, all sound like complete jerks and complain about their balls, an then the bloggers put them in a "bad men" list. Sigh

Yeah, I've seen this ****. I think it's ridiculous. This may be an LA thing, but on buses and trains here, I've noticed that women are much more inconsiderate than men. It may be a defense mechanism - and, of course, I sympathize with that - but women here are far more likely to take up seats they don't need and block access to available seats with bags.

I always sit with my upper legs at a 90-degree angle. It's anatomically impossible to get my knees any closer.

Some of the examples (OK, many of them,) are obviously on point. But when there's a photo of a guy with his legs slightly spread, or a comment from the person who runs the blog saying that she explicitly said she did not want people to submit pictures of women, I admit I get all #notallmen.

Most men I know just remain standing on the train, I don't think they want to take a risk of sitting in a puddle. Men and women both do this, honestly. I get her page is all about dudes breaking the subway rules, but women can be just as inconsiderate.

I think the name of the second blog mentioned should be switched to "bulge watchers" or "moose claw gawker."
