Unfortunately, I will not be able to visit New York until March of 2015, but I desperately want to see Hedwig. I haven't seen it before, but I am obsessed with the movie and the OBC recording. Does anyone know if Hedwig will sill be open then? Tickets are only on sale until January 4th with Michael C. Hall, but is there any talk as to what will happen afterwards? Is it going to close? Is JCM going to return to the role (or maybe only Hedwig in 2015? in my dreams)? Thanks for the input!!

No way of knowing. If sales continue to go well, AND they book someone that's a draw, it might stay open.

LOTS of shows are only selling tickets through a date in January.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

I think it will all depend on ticket sales in the first month of Michael C Halls run. He is very famous, and I am sure the producers are expecting a jump in ticket sales when he joins the show. If ticket sales don't improve from where they are right now, it may close since it will be the slow winter season at that point after the holidays in January. But if ticket sales early in Michael's run spike, they will probably book someone else from January through March. At that point, there may be some pressure to get in a new show to make the Tony cut off date. Overall I think it will run through at least March, 2015.

I think it will be the Cabaret on 1998. Getting film stars to short runs of this role

^I don't think Hedwig is as easy of a part to cast as the Emcee is.

Except that everyone who played the Emcee could probably play Hedwig.

It'll probably depend on ticket sales.

Heard a rumor from a somewhat reliable source that the plan is to rotate some stars through the show and close the production with John Cameron Mitchell. I don't know the absolute truth of this, but it wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility.

I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.

^ I love that idea and think it's quite poetic, as long as the producers continue to maintain the integrity of the piece with appropriate casting choices, which I believe that have done very well so far. But I have no idea who they could possibly cast next! However I will say that, even after considering what I thought was every possible option to take over the role, both Rannells and MCH came completely out of left field (for me at least) and yet were both totally inspired choices. So here's hoping that continues!

@ J52 -I wouldn't say Rannells was completely left field- Seeing as he has played the role before, just not this revised version.

Sorry, I meant out of left field for me since I had been brainstorming and compiling a list in my mind of possible replacements. The choices were unexpected just for me personally. Fantasy Hedwig casting has become my new favorite hobby!

How could anyone possibly say that the Emcee is easier to cast than Hedwig? If you see Alan Cumming's performance, I think a lot of people would say that his performance is unmatched?
