Why do they need our "real" names?

If there are concerns re: security and fraud, certainly they could be met by profiles being generated via an identifiable account assigned to the subscriber's legal name (which is probably already the case anyway) without dictating the use of legal names on profiles, let alone in a way that appears selectively enforced against the drag community.

I guess I want to take up the side of the trannies, but I'm reminded of what people say when anyone complains about how BWW is run - Facebook is free and no one is under any obligation to use it.

But if they are transexual trannies, I can see why'd they'd want their tranny name. But if they are drag queen trannies, wouldn't a similar parallel be if Courteney Cox wanted to open a Facebook account under the name Monica Geller-Bing?

Not necessarily, PRS.

I mean, personally, I could care less if Courtney Cox started a Facebook account under Monica's name, however Monica is a character, not her brand. Bianca Del Rio is both a character and a business. (Drag Queens who change their name for whatever reason, notwithstanding)

This definitely feels like an attack against Drag Queens as they are not targeting celebrities who have Facebook profiles under other names, couples who have joint accounts, or even regular folk who just don't want to put their actual names on their Facebook profile for personal reasons.

To me it seems more like if Curtis Jackson wanted to call himself 50 Cent on his Facebook page.

Is it just drag trannies, though? Because it seems like you can't swing your arms without someone bitching about Facebook wronging them, whether it's drag queens or women posting pictures of themselves nursing to any number of things that people get themselves knotted up about that prompt "That's it! I'm leaving Facebook!" posts.

if they are targeting drag trannies only, then I agree, it's crappy. But I'm pretty much over Facebook outrage.

I'm still a little lost as to why Facebook thinks this is necessary.

And it's hardly "free". One percenters be makin' billions off that damn site.

They think it is necessary because they can't monetize our identities and interests with aliases.

I'm ready to sign off Facebook permanently if there's a queer migration away from it.

Justin Vivian Bond is not feeling it.
