A New "View" Starts Today

This week's shows must have been taped in advance. The co-hosts are definitely on hiatus. Don't know about next week.

Raven has frequently been absent not for any "dislike" reasons by audience research (as one article states about Paula...to which I agree.  Ugh.).  She is in school for some kind of Art degree, which she mentions often.  I'm sure getting her airtime reduced while she's in school is no big deal to her for now.

Why Michelle Collins's days were gradually reduced in the last several months before completely being fired is a mystery.  What a breath of fresh air and comedy she is/was, and why they didn't make use of that, I've no idea.  There have been no public reports of her not getting along with anyone behind the scenes or any conflicts like that, so given her talent and the reasons they hired her in the first place, well, like I said, still a mystery.

But I guess she bounced back; I don't watch "The Bachelor" or any of the spinoffs or specials, but while I was waiting for another show to come on this week, looks like she was hosting one of them.

Michelle Collins is back in Los Angeles.  She will always work as she has before.

Phasing out Paula really makes no sense. She's also been a great third in line moderator. Without Paula, the panel seems too "nice," nobody besides Paula seems to offer any opinions to rival Whoopi and Joy.

You must not watch when Jedediah is on, then. Now that she is officially on a full-time contract with The View, you can expect her to get more pointed and bold in these discussions. She became the Academic Dean of a prestigious NYC high school by 30; intelligent, articulate, accomplished, etc. She's really going to be a fantastic addition to this show... especially as a self-professed Libertarian -- that show needs some new viewpoints!

Who watched the 20th anniversary special tonight? It was pretty good. And wow, the new theme/intro looks great, nice to see the entire panel in it. Here's the full music video of it, I assume portions of it will be the new show intro.

She did not. Only a handful of former cohosts contributed,  although the full original panel plus Lisa did.

yeah, I enjoyed the 20th anniversary special. Wasn't expecting every cohost to contribute. They had Walters, Viera, Behar, Star Jones, Matenopoulos, Sheppard, Lisa Ling, Bure & Michelle Collins. Surprised we didn't heard anything from Whoopi as she's now going on her 9th season with the show(4th longest behind Behar, Walters & Hasselbeck). Also, anyone else notice during the new theme song that they're listing 8 co-hosts(including Bila & Hostin). I thought they were only part of the rotating co-hosts?

I figured they would start listing Hostin and Bila as main cohosts. The network clearly loves them. A panel of 8 rotating main cohosts is different, and clearly at least two of them won't be on as much, unless they rotate it fairly.

and we all know Bure will barely be there due to her commitments in Los Angeles. Whoopi doesn't do the Friday shows & Faris is likely to only be there for 3 shows a week. I'm still hoping they'll slowly phase out Raven.

Well here is to Season 20! The set "face-lift" looks great. Anyone catch that opening? Why don't we just announce Sunny and Jedidiah as official co-host?

I said this back when Jedidiah announced it on another show she was a frequent contributor/fill-in host for, but she joined The View full-time as a co-host. Those were the very words she used when announcing her departure from another channel last month. No clue why they are not framing it that way publicly but it must be clearly framed that way in her contract.

all 8 are listed on ABC's website & all 8 are in the opening credits. So basically the show has 8 co-hosts. This just helps rotate them in & out when they have to miss episodes. Whoopi doesn't do the Friday shows. Paula only does 3-4 shows a week. Bure will barely be there. Haines was introduced today, Sunny probably tomorrow & Bila on Thursday likely. Less Raven the better the show be, too.

It was the right choice to just make them all full time cohosts. It would've been ridiculous to call Jedediah and Sunny "contributors" when they are on soooo often.

THR seems to maintain that Sunny and Jedediah are contributors. Doesn't seem right to me as both are in the show intro, music video, and on the website. They clearly are comfortable with 8 rotating full time cohosts.

I think today's episode was the best yet of the week. They seemed to gel better today, and it seems like Candace is finally starting to add some substance to the table.

A discussion between Joy and Raven went from a discussion, to a debate, to a screaming match and she said she had no problem sitting there having a productive conversation but a screaming match isn't what she signed up for and walked off.
