A New "View" Starts Today |

she's not busy. They're just not putting her on the show & I'd guess and say she's basically been fired though her name still appears in the opening credits. Haines & Sunny > Collins & Bure.

Familiar to casting shakeups, The View also had to shoot down rumors that Raven-Symonéwas leaving the panel, calling the idea "ridiculous."
"Ratings are up," a spokesperson told E! News at the time. "We are very happy with the team we have. Raven is a great addition to the panel."
So I guess Raven's coming back then? Nothing about Bure yet.

The single worst year in the show's history, with the musical chairs only creating a sense of disarray and volatility. On any given day, it's a mismatched 4 or 5, the fill-in-du-jour plugging some project or explaining an absence (when no one in the audience asked, the presumption of curiosity about off-screen activities is bizarre). Without a cohesive, recurring group, no chemistry develops, the show becomes a free-for-all inviting the loudest or most cranked-up to compete for air time. It feels as if the line-up is in perpetual audition mode. Many days, the 4th or 5th chair seat-warmer simply sits smiling through most of the show. Everything that went into the original recipe -- a group of women who know one another and share differing takes on topics and bring oppositional approaches to interviewing celebrity guests -- is long gone. Most off-putting: having panelists who are so woefully uninformed (we need not name names) that others must constantly fact-check and correct strange, baseless assumptions and provocative misstatements. It was always a forum for smart, up-to-speed informal pundits. It's devolved into a crass grab-bag of over-sharing.
FYI, Collins has been removed from the show's website. Bure remains.

The Paula/Joy friction has escalated in the last two days. Who saw the tension surrounding Joy's takedown of the Evangelicals supporting Trump (Wednesday)? The return from break when the whole table was clearly contentious. Paula was subdued the rest of the show. Joy's been much more aggressive taking her on, which has been satisfying to watch. I still can't get past Paula's bizarre behavior in the early days of the Flint water crisis, her ludicrous admonition that no one "get political," demonstrating zero knowledge that "politics" serves a constituency.
After watching the show today I noticed Collins has also been removed from the opening credits. Guess she's officially fired.
Candi? I'm assuming you mean Candace Cameron-Bure. She's still listed on the show's website & her name still comes up during the opening credits. Bure hasn't been let go. Yet.
I fully expected Whoopi to return. Raven & Bure still haven't been announced to return yet.
I wish there was a way to change the name of this thread...I pop in to see what's "new" and IMO, nothing at all. (It reminds me of Randy Rainbow & Elaine Stritch....W-h-ooooooo Cares?)
Just give Behar her own show. IMO, rehashing this panel and the drama is like cold oatmeal, stirring it won't help. Just my own thoughts, I'm not trashing anyone. I just know not to pop in and expect anything "new".
Bure's been useless, but I'm guessing she had to come back at some point considering she's still under contract. Today's hot topics w/50 cent was painful to watch. No Paula, no Haines, Bure didn't speak so it was mostly Joy & Raven back and forth. I didn't watch too much today
Joy's obnoxious today. Basically telling people they can't vote third party. She's not letting anyone else talk, either.

Raven's ignorance the last two days has been front and center. She's so woefully uninformed, and cannot stop herself from commenting, even when she frames her remarks with her low-information POV. She's entitled to an opinion, but hers are backed by so little even experiential exposure to most topics. Bure, no brain trust, seems there only to fulfill contractual obligations, and brings little. But she never did offer much.

Paul, today (Thursday), back. The comments defending Trump's lies. Really, WTF?
Had I known Joy(& Raven) were out today, I would have tuned in. Really CAN NOT stand Joy.

Thank you ACL2006. I made the same comment about Joy some years back and you would have thought her fan club were members of Broadwayworld. Posters were trying to tell me how wrong I was to dislike her. Of course, these were the same people who in earlier threads, were stating how much they, disliked a certain actor/actress.
I can see how some may find her obnoxious, but I think the show is missing something when Joy isn't there. And today basically proved again why Paula will likely return, she is excellent at riling up Whoopi.
