The show really suffers when Joy is not on.  Especially during the political segments. Fridays are usually great; when Whoopi is absent and Joy moderates.

Variety is reporting that Raven is still in limbo, Whoopi will likely renew her contract, Joy and Paula will be back, and Candace may leave to focus on filming Fuller House. I would assume Sunny will become full time, and they seem to love Sarah Haines, who I don't really get. I could also see Jedediah getting full time.

Collins getting the axe is no surprise as she's never there. Raven leaving has been circling for a few months now & Candace is barely there as well. Do they go with 5 co-hosts with Whoopi, Joy, Paula & add Sunny & Haines??

Candace added little to the show.  She was always busy, then she was there but only talked about her rebooted sitcom, then she was out again. She's low on facts, high on religious righteousness, and has zero weight at the table, intimidated at every turn.  Paula is an acquired taste, one I don't have (and I'm not the target demo).  Her comments on rallying around Trump this week, "There's on 'I" in team," which made Whoopi seethe, prove her loyalties, prove who she is, for all her "I'm a neutral journalist" crap.  But she's what the show wants, and the studio audiences always seem to love her over-shares about sex, her husband, and (fill in the blank).  I can tell that she delivers the contention with Whoopi and Joy the show seeks.  I hope Sunny remains.

Sarah Haines is the girl next door everyone wants to be friends with, she's the "girl" they hoped Michelle would be.

I've got friends behind the scenes who say Sarah is one of the nicest people they've worked with and a genuine team player. Not to mention, she seems to have great chemistry with the ladies.

Still not a huge Haines fan, but this current panel with Whoopi, Sarah, Joy, Raven, and Paula is quite good. I have a feeling the producers are enjoying the chemistry.

agreed. And I guess Collins has already got the axe. Can't remember the last time she's been on the show. Though she's still in the opening credits.

I have to wonder if Raven is simply trying to get more money in her contract extension. She's easily replaceable, so I doubt ABC is budging. They could just go with Whoopi, Joy, Paula & Haines with that 5th spot as a rotating co-host between Sunny, Sherri Shepherd, Bure & others.

I'm not a daily viewer, but I've been relieved that we've had less of Shepard, promised as semi-recurring (though to be fair, she's been better as an occasional panelist rather than a 5 day a weeker).  Sunny could take Paula's seat for my money, but I'm not in the target demo, needless to say.

Raven.  Her ignorance this morning is off the charts.  Joy tried to gently reign her in, but her attempt to quell the conversation about the shooter's internalized homophobia was simply breathtaking.  She has no idea that thoughtful analysis leads to enlightenment. Bad enough she should spew wrong information; but when she starts muzzling other people, it's a new nadir.  Her "I speak for the community" shtick is especially egregious.

Raven just isn't smart. She's always scrambling to come up with the right words when she talks & often falls [way] off the tracks. Even when reading her "cards", she falls off somehow. I wouldn't be upset if she doesn't return in September as I would guess she's asking for too much $$$. I'll stick to what I said a week ago that they should axe Collins(has likely happened) & Raven. Go with Whoopi, Paula, Joy & Haines as the four regulars. Make Bure, Shepperd, Sunny & others the rotating 5th chair/co-host.

Abc seems pretty set on this current panel. It actually feels the most cohesive it's been in a while. Paula seems to know how to incite Whoopi every single time and I'm sure production loves it.

Ding ding! I've been told this 5 is who they want and what you're seeing is them "test trailing it without all the pressure." Michelle is out, Candace wants out as she's becoming way too busy, and Raven seems to have survived.

RE: Raven. Not sure if she's renewed her contract or not. That was part of the rumors of her not returning. Again, I'm assuming she's asking for too much $$$.

Whoopi's got another year on her contract, so she's coming back. Joy & Paula are confirmed as well & Haines is basically replacing Collins. There's 4 locks. I doubt Bure returns as she's spending most of her time in California. Raven's the questionable one and could easily be replaced by Sunny.

What did Collins do that made her so busy? I didn't know about her before the show started, but thought she was one of the fan favorites?
