It's honestly a great idea for a talk show, but this isn't the View I'm into. I don't need to see half-celebs talking about today's hot topics. And honestly, I think Whoopi is most to blame.

It's been close to a debacle this week, with bizarre energy, over-talk, under preparation (Raven seems in another universe, one where information is out of her price range). Collins, fresh for her irreverence last season, is now falling all over herself to sound like an upbeat talk show host replacement. And this post-Twitter world has made her walk back a lame joke about Kim Davis's looks. (She was more persecuted than Trump for his Carly F. misogyny). Joy was the only one who took on Trump re Planned Parenthood, and Whoopi's careful handling made them all look strangely intimidated by him. Farris is there to do the GOP's/Christian bidding at every turn. No Wallace, she. Her obsession with Trump's rise among Republican women was devoid of any acknowledgement of the irony. But the show is not even a shadow of its former self, and its former self wasn't that hot to begin with.

Haha, even if she could afford the info. she wouldn't know what to do with it - missing synapses.

The segment on the Muslim flight attendant? Ludicrous, sloppy, pointless. Less was presented than in a standard news report, with no nuanced discussion, merely a quick recitation of the facts, and a very awkward segue out with Goldberg bristling about her monitor. Or something. Why is this thing such a mess?
I think Whoopi should introduce the topic, throw it to Farris for more info (why hire a journalist if she can't do any kind of reporting??) and then they should start discussing it. She said she'll play devils advocate and bring up points of view that haven't been covered, but she can't get a word in. She also avoids eye contact when she's talking. Raven is just an idiot. On the first day during one of her synapse mis-firings she said something along the lines of "you guys know I'm not good with my words." What a great quality for a talk show host.

WOW having Joy back really shows how off-the-rails this show has gotten. They are seriously stepping all over each other.
I find it interesting that the two dumbest women ever on that show, Sherri Shepherd and Raven - both have that same exact look on their faces. They may be babbling all over the place with an assumed air of intelligence, but in their eyes you can see that they aren't sure they even know what they're talking about.
The View has come under fire recently for Michelle Collins & Joy Behar's remarks about Miss Colorado's talent portion of the Miss America pageant.

With Whoopi gone, I kind of enjoyed the show. I watched the whole thing. It was nice seeing Behar anchoring the show. I think she's so smart and funny. It's a good mix for that kind of a show.

Does anyone else think this nurse outrage is ever so slightly overthought (and overcooked?)
Why does a brilliant, skilled nurse have to put on a swimsuit and gown and parade on a runway to compete for scholarship money? And have a(nother) "talent," requiring a performed monologue? (Seen any dudes sashay around in Speedos and tuxes, answer questions about Tom Brady's culpability to win a "crown?" Can you imagine how Fox News would take to that sideshow, Shep aside?) Couldn't the culture be having a bigger conversation than one about glib remarks by talk show comedians? Why are women still on display - for titles and tuition money - when they have real accomplishments to justify their higher pursuits? If you actually watch "The View" segment they merely commented on the ludicrous site of a real nurse, costumed thus, performing in a talent show. It's fairly ridiculous, all this lip-pursing, when you consider it was all attached to a T and A presentation.
So, five advertisers have pulled out of the show thanks to this nurses controversy. Can the show survive that?

This show needs to go - a waste of valuable air time. A bunch of hens endlessly clucking about absolutely nothing and somehow managing to offend people who are in professions that really make a difference in other people's lives when they themselves are not.
I get more out of watching paint dry.
These women are consistent in putting their foot in their mouths.
Put them and the general public out of their misery by eighty sixing this shallow piece of crap passing itself off as a show.
the show is likely on life support right now. It's unwatchable & with 5 sponsors pulling out, it's in big trouble. I'm sure ABC is scrambling right now to fix it, but I wouldn't be surprised if midseason we hear it's been cancelled.
hmm, I wonder if the Pew, I mean the View, has more viewers than the Talk because it's on much earlier. Lots of viewers are still home getting their selves together to start the day At two pm, I imagine everyone is out and about.
I think the time it airs does play a big part. Carlos said that it's taking up important TV real estate, but I'd argue that--it really isn't. ABC for a long time failed to deliver in that period (trying various other shows such as soap operas which, IMHO, traditionally even when soaps did well rarely did well in morning slots.) I can't see them letting it go anytime soon--and if it did go it would just be replaced by a cheaper talk show (the Chew or whatever that flop show that replaced One Life to Live was also called about fitness or something.)
I think them really pushing being consistent (and I credit that to Candi) is going to benefit them like the ratings are showing. Not to mention it seems 4 of them are really on board and committed to getting the show back to it's prime. Whoop on the other hand...not so much.

I really think Whoopi is the biggest misstep. I just can't imagine they could get rid of her.
Anyone know what their ratings so far are for this season?? I'm wondering if they've gone down. I know I've stopped watching.

I thought the whole thing w/ the nurses was really stupid and pandering. I mean, sure, Joy & Co. were making a joke, and I don't think they were wrong. That contestant coming out and reading a few emails wasn't exactly a "talent," but then, because of social media, it blew up, and now they had to dedicate an entire segment to the power of nurses? So stupid. Obviously those people missed the joke.

The show has always been a moneymaker; it costs peanuts to produce, relatively speaking. Don't look for it to disappear, quality be damned.
