I would love Laverne Cox. And I think they should consider moving Whoopi to part of the panel and let Ro moderate the show.

I wish Whoop a speedy recovery from whatever illness she has, but the show is so much better without her. I'm not a fan of Rosie O, but she has been so much more pleasant to watch without Whoop around these last couple weeks. I also would like to see Laverne Cox on board.

I fully endorse the Laverne idea. That's a smart woman, with charisma and an effortless affinity for the ebb and flow of the multi-host chat show. Sign her up. I fear Whoop is all too comfortable as the combination scold/epater les bourgeoisie renegade. Turning her into Joy makes sense; but she's been there too long to change seats. But watch for new tension perhaps as the two end chairs vie.
I'm curious who Perez was most uncomfortable with. She never seemed to warm to Wallace, this is clear. But I suspect her departure is about more than one particular costar.

I'm not sure if anyone remembers Rosie O'Donnell saying that Whoopi should replace her when she left the show, while taping her vblog.

A Chorus Line played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013.
The Laverne idea is a really interesting one. On one hand, I feel like she's almost too accomplished for a show like this- not to say the ladies on the panel haven't done noteworthy things, but she's such a proud activist for the trans community that it would feel odd to see her on a show that at least partially focuses on celebrity gossip and entertainment news. At the same time though, it would be revolutionary to have her presence broadcast into millions of American homes every morning.
I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.
I really don't think Naya is bringing much. She's stunning to look at, but I keep waiting for more from her.

Naya is bandaid of a solution, and a bad one. They'd be wise to stick with rotational guests, and see who genuinely stirs the pot and manages to lob with the best of 'em. The show desperately needs a new Joy, someone with gravitas but irreverence. Merely putting an articulate young woman of color on the panel to satisfy demographic demands (supposedly) is precipitous decision, and a mistake. The show has never worked without genuine sparks. I'm sure they expected more fireworks from Wallace and O'Donnell, but they are almost always in sync, oddly enough. Or their differences end up buried out of an apparent mutal respect, despite a couple of small showdowns at the start of the season.

At one point they wanted America Ferrara (sp?) but a movie schedule has conflicted that. Let me also add they liked Michelle Williams but apparently she's got another show?

She has a show on Oxygen titled "Fix my Choir," and also an upcoming album release to promote. I doubt she would be available.
She may sign on to The View just to have the platform. After all, the album isn't "new" it came out in September.
In case anyone missed it, O'Donnell denied any rumors this morning that Perez is leaving and that she's still scheduled to return in February.

According to the Daily Mail, Michelle Williams is the top contender for a seat on the panel. I do find her much more engaging than Rivera.

Agreed, Luscious. Michelle Williams is pretty, and certainly talented musically and accomplished (and she's from Chicago--whoo-hoo!). But she was super-annoying, not articulate, didn't flow with the cross-talk at all. That last part wasn't entirely her fault, but you gotta get in there, on a show like that.
Naya has been articulate, and agreed with another poster who said she's certainly stunning to look at, but I don't want to see her every day on this show. Plus, I'd be surprised to find she'd even be interested; isn't she looking at bigger TV roles or even Broadway? She's a singer; you'd think she'd want to go the theatre route next after "Glee."

It was just announced that Colleen Ballinger of Miranda Sings fame will co-host next Friday. Really excited for her! She's a very funny woman who I think will bring a lot to the table.
I'm going to check out Colleen. She's very funny, but bombed on Coffee with Commedians as Miranda.

I didn't think she bombed on the Seinfeld thing. It's just that it was a weird mash up of a fictional character in Jerry's presentation of the real world.

Bless her heart, she was back, and it's true, it wasn't all that compelling, because she had so little bring to the party about her illness/injury. She couldn't discuss her condition at all, she had none of the lexicon after an extended hospital stay. I think she's heavily medicated.

I don't even watch it that regularly but The View has a LONNNNG history of denying that things that are about to happen have even been discussed, why, they've never heard of such a thing!
