LOL I'm so happy Joan gave her thoughts on the Fashion Police line of secession before she died.

Damn, Whoopster is not looking great these days.

I love Cristela, too bad her show won't move to NYC. I can't confirm it but I'm thinking Raven was auditioning today.

Can they just hire London already? She's got great chemistry with everyone and really fits in on the show.
A Chorus Line played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013.

I can tell you this, there haven't been any papers drawn up but they're interested in London and London is interested in The View. Like I said in an already post, she see's what it could do for her and her brand.

London is fine, but does anyone really believe she brings the needed "it" fact to this show? She still has the feeling of an understudy. I don't sense this glorious chemistry everyone references. Yes, she gets along swell with everyone, says perfectly intelligent and reasonable things. But this is television, a place where her honed skill set isn't necessarily ideal on a daily basis. This is THE VIEW. I can't imagine waiting to hear her opinion on anything but her area of expertise. It's not a criticism, it's a reality check about the medium and this show's long track record. They need more than good enough. We need a reason to tune in.

ABC shouldn't be crowing about these numbers by putting out a press release. They may have beaten THE TALK by a small margin, but their numbers are still dismal. But I suppose it all but guarantees that they'll be renewing the show for another season in the fall.

And Cristela gets my vote! Her likeability factor is head and shoulders above London's and Ponder's, and she's articulate as well. She fits in nicely. Although I still think that Whoopi and Rosie P. will be departing before the start of the new season in September. If that happens, they should be replaced by Diane Sawyer and Mario Cantone, respectively. Or bring back Rosie O. as moderator. Doubt that will happen, but Rosie O. did a good job when Whoopi was on medical leave. Whatever they do, they should never invite Raven Simone back to the table. What a sourpuss!

Gotta admit that I tuned into this gabfest earlier today for the first time ever. I most likely don't make up part of the target audience.

The show isn't my cup of tea so I probably shouldn't bother putting this question out there. But, how could Whoopi appear in public dressed like that? She's always been somewhat challenged in the personal style arena but damn...she looked like she had been out gardening before taping. Her appearance alone was a distraction and I write this as a huge fan of her stand-up act when it was still fresh. She's not even that old but the get-up and her attitude make her read really geriatric. It's not a good look Whoopi, at all.

Javero, did you happen to notice if they gave the studio audience "gifts". The shallow part of me, would still attend a taping when I visit in June, only for that reason. I'm not home to watch it when it is on and I don't dvr. They used to gift the audience quite regularly. Don't know if that has changed.

ArtMan,

I don't really remember that part of the show. It was tough for me to keep up with all the panelists talking over each other. Perhaps some of regular viewers could weigh in. The only thing I remember was that Whoopi looked like a swollen tick who didn't have time to check in with the wardrobe dept. I used to be one of Whoopi's staunchest defenders when the other men in my family used to make unflattering remarks about her looks. She's never been regarded as a classic beauty. But, it looks like she has completely given up on trying to be presentable in public.

I agree with Auggie--Stacy London's always kind of annoyed me, precisely *because* all she did was sound like an overgrown "valley girl" with all her fashion this/fashion that talk. While it's refreshing to hear her say intelligent and sensible things on this show, I, too, am not sensing any "it" factor with her, here.

Ponder was pretty and intelligent--when they let her talk. I'd never heard of her before she was on the View, but then again, I don't watch ESPN.

Nicolle's *hardly* a "mid-level IQ" person. She's the breakout star of this season. She's got the White House experience and political know-how and perspective to be valuable when politics come up on this show, the ability to modestly-yet-firmly tell it like it is without talking down to the guests, hosts or the audience, and--the biggest surprise--she giggles like a little girl when the "real life" topics come in and she's pleased about something. She's smart when she needs to be, and funny when it just sort of...happens.

Agreed about Raven--she's always been a pretty girl and accomplished actress, but her timing on interviews wasn't great and she wasn't the most articulate, this week, unfortunately. Meh. I think they just gave her a shot because Whoopi loves "Empire" and Raven's on it, and it was great to have Raven on when show runner Lee Daniels was on to promote it, that's all.

As for Whoopi--she's NEVER claimed to be a fashion plate, and routinely comments to the opposite sentiment, talking about how she (for realz) never wears a bra, even on the show, and jokes about how her boobs are saggy "old lady" boobs and such. So I forgive her for her outfits; if the wardrobe dept lets her do it, and I don't suspect they have much choice, so be it. She still speaks with the most common sense of all of them over the years, imho.

And...*where* was Rosie P all week anyway, necessitating this parade of auditioners, again...? She was gone all Feb. to rehearse that play, but what of this week...?

The show is a bunch of average IQ (at best) broads spouting off on topics they don't fully have a grasp of.

It's like a goddamned tupperware party with cameras.

I don't think the puerile treatment of topics is gender related; must we attribute it to "broads?" Or "hens?" And stoop to Tupperware allusions? In 2015? When male guests sit at the table, they are either pretty himbos ABC shameless exploits (a cute but vacuous "General Hospital" star who elicited salacious comments about his looks for an hour), or Cantone, bitchily annotating the others' commentary, mercifully funny but with no more depth. The show's problem isn't that it's all women; the show merely succumbs to the attention span of the culture. What's particularly bad is the use of time. "Hot Topics" run on forever. We are getting way too much about "Empire," no doubt only because Goldberg adores it. If you don't watch, click. And then, when guests with substantive issues appear later, they are rushed, and always told "Will you come back? 'Cause we love talking to you." Why not invite someone and give him or her 10 full minutes or more? It's bizarre. We get 25 minutes of London discussing denim, and 5 minutes of Julianne Moore.

I agree with you on all points Auggie. My explanation for the show's banal topics is that this is what "the people want to see." That may be right. I notice that tv in the USA panders to the banal, short attention span audience. Surely that has to be the reason why crap like this endures while thought provoking shows don't last.

Just a few thoughts from the week. Whoopi has dressed much better this week, I like Garcelle, and Perez needs to realize she's no match for Wallace.

Poor Perez rarely had credible facts for her political viewpoints and seems like she'd reading points given to her before she comes out onto the stage. So the fact she thought Wallace who was going to back down was comical.

^ She is great, but ABC won't hire her, she's too much of a wildcard and doesn't stick to their script.

And ucjrdude902, isn't every day an audition day?! Neither of them stood out today, in the 2 or 3 words they got in.
