So my school is planning to go see a Broadway play this October but can't decide which play to see. it's between Curious Incident, it's only a play, love letters and This is Our Youth. which one is best for teen Theater kids ages 14-17? We have seen kinky boots, porgy and bess, peter and the Starcatcher, glass menagerie, if/then and follies in the past couple years. We have seen some great stuff and want to see more.

Curious Incident. It's British. Emphasis will be put on artistry rather than ca-ching ca-ching.

If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

What a shame you arent considering You Can't Take it with You. Everyone has nothing but fabulous things to say about it. From your list: Curious Incident.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

From the provided list, Curious Incident. As suggested by others, I would also strongly consider You Can't Take It With You if possible. Have fun.

Should I convince my teacher to put that down as a choice to see. And have you heard any good feedback about it's only a play. I'm curious

On this board, It's a Only a Play seems to be getting mixed views. It's got serious star power, which can be very fun. I would suggest You Can't Take It With You to your teacher for a few reasons--it's extremely enjoyable, it's a classic play and it brings out a ton of chances to study it, and it's fairly non-objectionable. Teachers and parents like that.

I honestly don't know how interested high school age kids would be in Love Letters. The actors scheduled are very well known, but I can't think of a ton of kids who really want to see Alan Alda, Diana Rigg on stage.
(No disrespect to either, as I'm quite a fan and all for introducing kids to them)

I think the best bets are Curious Incident or You Can't Take it with You. YCTIWY is a classic play done really well with a great cast while Curious Incident seems like a very cutting-edge piece of theater.

This is Our Youth may be a bit too edgy for a 14-17 year old audience (not so much for the kids going who can probably handle it, but there's bound to be at least one or two parents who would have an issue with the subject matter and its best to avoid that). It's Only a Play would be fun, but given its sales numbers, I can't imagine it being very easy or cheap to bring a large group to. Love Letters sounds like it may be a bit too "mature" for a 14-17 year old audience and a little hard to relate to.

I convinced my teacher today to take yctiwy into consideration. He started reading about it and really was fascinated by the response to the classic

Awesome, those 2 options are both great. Curious Incident was fantastic in London and early reviews of You Can't Take It With You have been excellent as well. I am seeing both during my next NYC visit.

YOU CAN'T TAKE IT WITH YOU is about a woman who goes to a museum opening and thinks that she absolutely needs to have one of the paintings there. She tries to buy the painting, but everyone says to her: "You can't take it with you!"

Ok thats not true, YCTIWY is about a girl named Alice (Rose Byrne) who falls in love with a man. She and her sister Essie (Annaleigh Ashford), and her husband all live in the same house in which Essie and Alice grew up in, with their parents and grandfather (James Earl Jones). The girl's father works with fireworks so there is always occasions where they don't go as planed so the burst. Now, the family is very odd. Essie is a terrible dancer, the mother is playwright, and many more chaotic things go on, so in the play the lover's family come over for dinner to the Sycamore's on a night to early, they are joined by many odd people as well. If you have seen the musical version of the Addams Family, it is much like that.
