At first, I wondered if she was lip-syncing (I'm sure she wasn't), because my brain couldn't figure out the combination of how she was moving her mouth and allegedly what came out of it.
I liked that part in the first song where the mic was nowhere near her mouth, which wasn't moving, and her lead vocal started up without needing any of those things to happen.
I could not understand one word she was singing. I was hoping to wake up to it being a joke. But, unfortunately it isn't.

My problem with her is that she sounds like a little girl trying to sing and sound like an adult. It sounds so forced. When Christina Aguilera came onto the scene, she genuinely sounded like an adult and much older than her actual age. I don't get all of the praise for Grande's mousy voice.
She can't sing but she can SANG!!!!!! In other words, she pushes the AMERICAN IDOL ideal of song interpretation down our throats.
So you can belt. Who cares? So over this style of singing.

It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.”

She was terrible when she performed at the White House for their Women of Soul PBS concert- She failed at Whitney's number and could not hang with the rest in Proud Mary
Ariana Grande is a joke of a performer who gained attention only through the opportunities created for her by an extremely wealthy Palm Beach grandmother. She is spoiled, bland, talentless, and a waste of space.
It looked like lip synching because there was so much reverb and other post-processing on her mike feed, the sound was delayed. Who knows what her actual unprocessed voice sounds like?
Honestly, I don't follow pop music these days and wasn't familiar with her work until sampling some selections at youtube earlier today. I agree that her somewhat light voice sounds really forced on a few of the tracks that I played. Like the added touch of the whistle notes but find her chest voice underdeveloped. And the poor thing was completely lost in her White House performance covering the late Whitney Houston's now classic I HAVE NOTHING at the jump. Whitney's wasn't always consistent live but she knew how to pace a song and pull the audience in. Ariana will benefit from more seasoning, developing her stagecraft, and finding material to record that uniquely suits her voice. And she's definitely something good to look at which pushes a lot of product these days. Ariana Grande - I Have Nothing
A singer can't just be a singer anymore. They have to be a saleable product. And not only is this embedded in the consumer, it's expected from the consumer.

I thought of this thread after an experience today. I was changing the channel on my TV and accidentally ended up on Nickelodeon because I pressed the numbers for that. And her show was on. Holy fvck. Does she always speak as annoying as she did in the 10 seconds I saw? She sounded like she was on something and was hard to understand.
