Just saw it today and can really recommend it

Brendan Gleason plays Father James. He is a priest in Ireland. One morning a man comes into his confessional and says he was molested as a child .He could take no recourse against the priest who has died years before . Instead he intends to kill Father James simply to make a statement. He gives him a week to get his affairs in order. It is a great character study plus a mystery trying to figure who in the small town made the threat. Father James also has a full grown daughter as he was married and entered the priesthood when his wife dies.

You try and figure out who wants to kill him. The film was filmed in Ireland and the mostly unknown cast performs well. You are kept guessing until the end. Gleason could very well be up for an Oscar as could the film.

It is well worth your time as it holds your interest from beginning to end.

I liked it a lot too.

John Michael McDonagh's previous film, The Guard, is also worth seeking out. Less serious in tone, but another great performance from Brendan Gleeson.

If you like the work of Martin McDonagh, you'll probably be a fan of his brother too.

Really came out of the blue. The last scene with the daughter had me baffled

I now see this guy as Mc Donagh's brother. Dark, well written characters and set in Ireland. Now I have to put the Guard on Netflix.

I really enjoyed this film, Gleeson is absolutely terrific. It's fun to see his son in a different role than he usually plays as well.

I was a little bummed with the fact that I guessed who it was VERY early on, but I still very much enjoyed the film. I'm a big fan of both of the McDonaghs.

Well I am glad that I am in the minority and that it is a surprise for most people! I think I tried to hard to figure it out instead of just letting myself watch and enjoy, so then I was mad at myself for it...haha. As I said, though, still very much enjoyed the movie.
